what the fuck has Huddlestone done to warrant being chosen ahead of Jenas in any spurs team?

I understand what you're saying mate. I think as far as midfielders go with all the attributes it has to be Jenas. But I think if we can get a dedicated defensive midfielder Huddlestone is more suited to partner them. He has been pinging balls around for fun.

GL, it is to do with having functional components of the midfield. If you are going to have a Ball winner in there, it is better balanced with a ball player (both at home and away - it doesn't make us too attacking, probably makes us better defensively because we are able to ease the pressure better). Huddlestone is a great passer, Jenas isn't.

Agree IOMLS. It's more to do with getting the balance right and picking the best players for the team, not necessarily the best individuals.

Arshavin will go to an established Champion's League club...........not us I'm afraid.

Mail saying Real are gonna go for him for 10mill!! Surely they cant fit him in with Sneijder, VDV, Robben, etc can they?

It's impressive work from the Mail's sportsdesk toddlers.

Arshavin "appears to be" and "seems set to" do a bunch of stuff - journospeak for "look, we don't fucking know, all right?" - while the article also seems to believe Tottenham are a Barclays Premier League. And, indeed, that there are other Barclays Premier Leagues knocking around.

There are only two surprising elements: one, the presence of actual quotes (admittedly only on the far less interesting Love angle) and an actual human man has allowed his name to be attached to the article. I can only assume SPORTSMAIL REPORTER was too busy.

You're setting yourselves up for the same fall again guys. He's not coming, simple as that! Different manager, different system, different targets.

I'd do the same but swap Jenas for a DM.

I know Jenas is our most complete midfielder but I think if we get a proper DM having Huddlestone in there as well will off more creativity going forward.

Gomes

Hutton Woodgate King Bale

Corluka Huddlestone

Bentley Modric Arshavin

Bent

Fine looking team,I would only change Bentley for Jenas and switch the AM's.

It's a shame that he didn't arrive. Clearly the money was set aside for his transfer. Since the summer Pav was probably telling him it was a complete shambles under Ramos but this new fella in charge is just the ticket.

Thats the most sensible thing I've read today.
I'm really not sure he's high on our list of priorities any more, the Real thing is probably a Zenit negotiating ploy but I don't think it matters now.

Hi IOMLS

But Huddlestone is worst than Jenas in every other department apart from passing.

We need a DCM in the Makelele mould. Who can break up the play and pass it to either Modric (Deco) or Jenas (Lampard).

We should put in a bid for Mikel once Essien comes back...

With Arshavin i don't think it is a case of desperately seeking glory or CL football as he already has that at Zenit. He wants to experience a new league and culture and was very much prepared in the summer to do that with us. Now though i can't see it happening, if Barca are still interested then god knows how many more goals they will start scoring if he is in their side.

couldn't corluka do that? The point isn't a straight swap Jenas for Hudd, if it was JJ would win every time. It's that Hudd and Corluka could possibly complement eachother a lot better than Jenas and a.n other.

Arshavin "i love Barcalona" If i were playing for Zenit and loved Spurs i wouldn't sign for Ar5ena1 for any money ANY MONEY. He could be the same as me.

Even if you were say, in the conference south and wenger's scouts saw you and offered you a deal with them? you wouldn't be tempted? I'd bite their hand off.

What actually has changed in 3 months to think Arshavin wouldn't want to come to us now? He was all set in August, and if you believe ITK, he'd even agreed a contract. So with the change of manager would this stop him, we now have a manager getting results and getting the best out of the players we have, would Arshavin not be interested in this?

He has a Russian team mate at the club now, he wouldn't want to join up with Pavlyuchenko then.

Maybe because we are 16th, no not really, we are what 2 points from 9th place, and yes Europe is still very much a possibility.

Those that think Redknapp wouldn't want a player of his calibre, well, ummmm go ask Harry what he thinks of him, If he thinks Modric's a terrific little player then what would he think about Arshavin, a guy who set the Euro's alight and runs at any defence regardless of who they are, like Sergio Ramos for example.

For the last time aswell, he's a left midfielder, so don't say we don't need him we got Modric, Luka's not playing left midfield.

We are 1 point off the relegation zone, but by the time the window opens I expect we'll be back in the top half. The main change is obviously the manager, he was impressed by Ramos, will he be impressed by Redknapp? more importantly will redknapp be impressed by him?
