im a st holder and I can vouch that some of the st holders are the biggest pricks around in terms of shit support. I can think of 1 sadcwanker around me that goes to most games but thinks that gives him the devine right to be abusive to our players, as though they owe him something. its his life and he thinks hes the boss because all his comments are said loadly so his plastic mates laugh. its prettypathetic.

There are dickheads yes, there's this one red faces fool in the west upper, always drunk, who is only ever bitching and whinging and abusing as loudly as he can even though nobody cares, but those fans are the minority. There are far more people who exercise reason and control, and who on boards like this provide measured and respectful opinions (so I imagine they do similar at the games). Stood, Dougal, TSH I think, Coyboy, RickyVilla, all St Holders, never seen any of them behave poorly on this site.

Sorry but I take offence to that (not you, but the armchair critics). I make a lot of personal sacrifice both time wise and money wise, two things which are both at a premium for me unfortunately, to make sure I'm at every match at home and as many away as my pocket allows. Girlfriends and family are worked around the fixture list, jobs are limited to those which won't interfere with my Spurs following, and this had been the case since my first ST when I was a child. Nearly two decades on and I'm, and all those around me, still in the same seat, surrounded by fans as committed and passionate as me.

Yes, the atmosphere isn't always the best, but there are also times where it is unparalleled in intensity and ferocity. Judging by the fact that the faces around me are generally the same as those from when I was 11, or even for the previous 5/6 years to that before my first ST when I'd go on my uncles ticket while he was abroad, I refuse to accept any questioning of my and my peers quality of support for our club from people who don't know what it's like to invest that much love and commitment into the club, people who I question where they were when we were shit. I, and the faces around me, where there when we had Sinton and Fox on the wings, when Howells ran our midfield and when Austin and Edinburgh flanked our defence, and frankly we all deserve better than to have the way we support this club questioned.

And what about the type of fan I highlighted above? Are You telling me you dont have a handful of them around? If you are then fuck me Id like to know where you're sitting so I can join you.

Wish I was a proper fan.

Oh get out of your own arse TM, you're usually a good poster but if all you're capable of is pretty sarcastic one liners then don't bother. I never said non ST holders weren't proper fans, I just defended the 21,000 odd ST holders who are brilliant fans from undeserved criticism.

You are easily disgusted.

Lately I've read at least two people desperately hoping that the fucker Bale breaks his leg, that Chadli should just fuck off right now, and that Rose is a useless **** who has no right to ever walk out on our pitch again.

Disgusting.

See my next post, I accept that they exist but I insist that they're a minority and that the majority don't deserve to be painted with the same brush.

Well you could equally say the same about those that dont attend (armchair fans to you) or the young, that were getting singled out. I dont think anyone was saying ALL or the majority of ST were idiots, just that theres a lot more than many suggest, esp when it's the young or the unfamiliar that always get tarnished. I'm just trying to redress the balance by setting the record straight.

Always love it when armchair fans criticise the season ticket holders...

Don't go around spouting this bollocks and expect people who can't afford to go to games not to react. You generalised and I generalised right back at you.

Let move on. We all support spurs whether its at home or at the ground.

Just to clarify BBLG (although I think your comments have been in response to another poster rather than my OP) but the stuff that has embarassed me has been from Spurs fans on various forums like Twitter, Facebook, 606, and other proper forums...not just here on SC. in fact I post exclusively on SC because it generally does have the best selection of intelligent, coherant, balanced posters of any Spurs forum I've come across.

I think too many people on here think that running a club is the same as playing a football related computer game. I've never played one personally, but it appears that many expect players to perform straight off the bat when they join (conveniently forgetting the early Bale days), and then get after them when the understanding and interplay is limited. Others are inconsolable that we have lost Bale without acknowledging the overall strengthening that his sale has instigated. I also do not care what Arsenal or anybody else has done with their money - it's up to us to set out to succeed whoever we come up against.

Personally, I'm proud to be associated with a club that has managed to perform admirably amongst others where money, morals or massive debt are no object. We still operate in the real world and have managed to spend over 100m in one transfer window. We are in good hands and I feel that with the Stadium, Management and recent investment, Daniel levy has now pushed the button on 'Project Spurs'.
Not to mention a club that produces superhuman athletes. Yea I can't say I'm too disappointed being a spurs fan ;)

Kids these days eh.

Tell you what though, although I totally agree with the OP, SC is far more measured than most Spurs fan groups. The Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur group on Facebook I've stupidly "liked" is full of complete morons posting utter, utter shite. They don't even just post badly thought out opinions, but quite often things that are just completely factually wrong. Every day I have to stop myself writing angry retorts. Urrrghhh, the internet...

The knee-jerk reaction is something that kids seem obsessed with these days - everything is black and white, there is no grey. How depressing.

I'll move on, but I do have to question why you pick up on me making the generalisation I made (non ST's accusing ST's from their ivory armchairs) when it was merely a response to the generalisation against ST Holders, but you in no way challenge the generalisation to which I was originally responding. Total double standards from you TM, total double standards.

I think its been talked about enough regarding "Arm chair" supporters and Season Ticket holders, so no need to get in to it. Just wanted to pull you up on your post because it smacked of arrogance.

Anyway....

To be fair, there have been a lot of anti young and anti regular comments that preceded this and as soon as there was one anti st comment, all hell broke loose (bit of an exaggeration on my part there).

I think there should be a knee jerk rating and when a poster gets over 25 he has his postings limited for a week.

I was I'm full agreement with your OP I hasten to add, I just took exception to various posters evolving this thread into something else both unnecessarily and vindictively.

As monty says, this thread had nothing to do with those in attendance, it was about forum chat. It was taken to the stands out if nowhere and, worse, out of context, I was merely addressing that as it was an unwarranted, unprovoked and unnecessary criticism which didn't belong in this thread in the first place.
