I've read plenty of comments about the need to change the mentality of the fans to reflect the mentality of our team. I think its fair to say that Poch wants to win Silverware but more importantly wants to be challenging for the title. With this in mind I wondered what peoples aspirations were both at the start of the season and also now we are half through, how they might of changed.

I'll start with my own:

Start of the season

With everyone spending so much I'd have been happy with a good run in the champions league and qualification via the top 4 again for 2017-2018.

Now

I think right now we should be challenging for the title and at least coming close. In addition I think we can pick up some silverware either PL, FA Cup or Ropey League along the way. The squad is capable and although I'd accept top 4 still I think we are more than capable of troubling the trophy cabinet.

We are challenging for the title and providing our key men remain fit, and we maintain the momentum of the last 5-6 games, then we have a very good chance to challenge for all available silverware,

If I were offered a guaranteed 4th place finish for this team I wouldn't take it. More importantly, I don't think the players would either.

Yes it's a really competitive league this year, but we're so difficult to beat (12 game unbeaten run with a patched up, out of form team is testament to that). There's nobody in the league who will play us off the park and most teams are running scared of us.

Similarly, we have a growing winning mentality and belief in ourselves, forged from the experience of last year. I think we have a focus and belief that will see us grind out games.

Last year, I thought we were the best team in the league (notwithstanding two sides finishing above us). I think a similar thing this year: great defensive stats and increasing coherence in attack. How we manage Europa will say a lot, particularly with Chelsea and Liverpool not having to worry about that but I think we'll push all the way and finish first or second.

At the start of the season I really felt we could come anywhere between 1st and 6th and nothing has changed.

However, I feel we have a genuine chance of a cup, either EL or FA, this year as our fringe players are offering more. However, I think we will prioritise league over the cups and our lack of a Kane replacement when we get to the latter stages will prevent us picking up a trophy.

Ditto. Cheers for saving me the effort of posting the same. (y):D

Its amazing what a few wins does for the optimism........It wasn't that long ago we had no plan B, were going backwards, had no chance of top 4 and Poch was losing the dressing room :D

Getting in the top four consecutive seasons was always the aspiration and aim as far as I was concerned. It would still be a successful season if we achieved that, but boy, I really think a trophy is achievable...

At the beginnig of the seaosn I believed we were in the title race but ultimately one of Man Utd, City or Chelsea would get their big guns firing and would be enough to win the league.

So I guess my aspiration hasn't really changed. I beleive we are the main challenger for Chelsea but they have to be favourites right now.

Don't worry. Lose or draw with WBA and that'll be back!

West Brom is a classic game which we will think we can get through at 80% effort and have to work hard to get anything from. Would like to see the same concentration and intensity we saw in the chav game to build some real momentum

Dont mind giving up trophies as long as it's for prioritizing the league and make us more capable of winning trophies the coming years.

We have an outside chance of winning the title, and even if we finish second or third I think That would be a huge step towards becoming a recognized "top 4" team.

Play a second string team vs genk and hope for a win, but accept that a loss is possible.

This lot are special and Im certain we will win several trophies the next couple of years.

Before the season I thought we'd finish top 4, and have another crack at the title.

It's always interesting reading posts like this. Not asking you to name names but are people posting optimistically in this thread who previously held negative views?

Some punters (and you'd be hard pressed to find any at Sky) feel that we can win it. I haven't checked every teams fixtures but i think we only have Citeh and Liverpool away now out of the top six, and this i think is where the title will be decided at the end of the day.

Similarly the Chav's have Liverpool, UTD and I believe Arse away. You could include Leicester away as I think they will show up for that. I had this very conversation with an inlaw about the wheels coming off their Caravan soon.

If we don't beat West Brom we will be back there very quickly.

Only those 2 of the top 11 in fact.

I read an article in one of the free evening London papers today about Dier saying this group of players need to win silverware

I usually want CL football ahead of domestic cups

This year's campaign has perhaps put the CL into perspective for me

The article highlighted how little we've won since 1991

Because of this my number 1 priority is for us to win some form of silverware this season
