A few posters on here for some reason have bashed luka in the past and I have generally kept my opinions to myself. The phrase "he assists the assists" has been mentioned and scrutinised by some but I think today was a perfect example of why he is class. Probably the pass of the weekend, (which we see almost every week with luka) and it doesn't count in any stats column or notebook, yet without that vision the goal would not have been scored. Much like the run from bale, he won't get an assist but he allowed Lennon the easy job by doing all the hard work. Just because he doesn't grab headlines with amazing stats doesn't mean he isn't as integral to our team as bale or rafa. The guy is class and we would be seriously weakened without him

stats stats and more useless stats, your eyes are far more important! As for bashing Luka, well it takes all sorts, he is a Tottenham player and that is the ultimate compliment because it means he sits with the likes of Hoddle, Ardiles, Ginola et al.

I personally have gone to great lengths to explain this - using, for instance, the example of Gudjohnsen last season, when he did dummied the ball, fooling the entire oppos defence and allowing Krankjar space to score, but it wouldn't show up on any stats as an assist. None of it makes any difference, some folk are so blinkered that they have obviously just seen one or two less than perfect things from him and allowed that to stand in their minds for the totality of the player:duh:

"A few posters"

The great thing about him is that he's always around as an option. You never see him marked. He sets the tempo, he see's things that others dont. That pass for hutton came from nowhere, I certianlly didn't see that ball wide available.

There is a reason why he's held in such high regard by pundits and managers alike... Because he is a fantastic player. I honestly don't know why some posters (I wont mention names) cant see it.

The way he retains possesion and sets the tempo of our attacking movements is nothing short of brilliance.

 Very well said.

He moves without the ball to open space to provide a option for players getting closed down. How many times did he provide help for BAE and Palacios. I love Modric and wish people would get behind our players instead of trying to nitpick every little thing a player does wrong like it is a video game and not real life.

Well said most of you :) He's the creative brain in our team (Bale must be one of the lungs...)

Modric finally, after so many games, discovered the powerful magic of the long through ball in space, something he has been expected to do for a while now - being our play-maker, the ONE that makes us tick, etc. - but has always managed to fail with.

A long through ball. Was the pass intended or was it a fluke, I wonder? Hmmm. We shall see in the games to follow.

I think it must be a fluke that Someone as monumentally stupid as yourself manages to type letters in the correct order to form a coherent sentence. The content of which is usually bullsh*t of the highest order.

I've always thought that any pass in a scoring move should be credited with an assist. The fact that it isn't has more to do with ease of scoring for fantasy football than any extra statistical relevance.

To be fair, after watching the highlights I'm pretty sure that the pass was meant for gomes....behave mate, fluke? Don't be an arse, enjoy the fact we have a fantastic midfielder who keeps us ticking over. The guy is pure class

At least you admit that it is usually what I do, therefore the results (a plural which means it occurs multiple times) of "my monumental stupidity", as you see it, are not a fluke and therefore you contradict yourself. You can't call it "fluke" when it's not and vice versa, as it can't be both.
