Whose departure would damage Tottenham Hotspur more: Andre Villas-Boas or Gareth Bale?

PSG are reportedly chasing Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale and Andre Villas-Boas, whilst Real Madrid have made their interest in Bale clear, but who would be the bigger loss to Spurs this summer?

Read some random blog asking this question, so thought I'd pose the same question to SC....

Who would you choose Bale or AVB?

For me, the answer to the question s about replacements. Would the replacing manager make up for the loss of AVB and would the replacing player(s) make up for the loss of Bale? Would we even re-invest the money?

For me.... AVB would be the biggest loss, IF we were to sell a Bale we would get >£50million surely and that could be used to fund attacking players that AVB knows will fit into his system.

Bale will be a massive loss and I'll miss watching him play to death, but in AVB we have one of Europe's most promising managers and since the manager forms the core of any team, we need him to stay and him leaving would unsettle us the most.

I imagine that if AVB went, then Bale would want out. I don't think it would be the same the other way round.

AVB is the future.

I'd say Bale. I think a lot of fans don't realise how much he has done for the side over the past few seasons, particularly last year.

Having said that, I don't think either is irreplaceable.

AVB needs to stay. If AVB goes we are in the shit, if Bale goes we are in the money.

AVB. Players come and go, even ones as talented as Bale. The one thing Spurs fans of any vintage or intelligence must surely understand by now is the importance of a good manager and stability. Shirley?

Easiest question we've had in a while.

Bale.

Without Bale this season, this wouldn't even be a question.

AVB considering we'd get a lot of compensation should Bale leave.
AVB leaving would set us back a few years, and Bale would leave anyway if that should happen.

Managers are disposable, take us and Chelsea change managers like clothes and still get the same results. Don't think managers are that key these days. Barca and Bayern have built dynasties with a philosophy that the manager just has to fit into to. Even Swansea have shown that works in the last few years. I think in the past managers made more of a difference

Bale is more valuable to the the team. He's the biggest reason why we almost got top 4 this season. Losing AVB wouldn't hurt us if we got the right replacement. However losing bale could be the start of something special.

Its actually a very good question. The logical part of my brain says that the manager is more inportant than any player and we really need stability. On the other hand, the way we as a club operate doesn't afford the manager that much control anyway.

I wouldn't want to lose AVB but I know that Bale leaving would leave me more gutted

LMFAO at AVB voters!

That is pathetic.

Great point well argued (y)

Personally I've voted for Bale because we know his impact whereas AVB still has to prove himself in the transfer market to show that he can continue his long term plans for the club.

But is it pathetic for people to think that our manager is more important than one player? Is it pathetic for people to argue that the person overseeing what the club does as a whole may be more important than one player? Is it pathetic for people to argue that a man who has pushed us forward despite losing three of our best players may be more important than one player?

No...it's not.
