Here is a vid of the historic press conference, which will now forever be referred to as 'likelygate':

Can't believe we won't sign another forward. He doesn't have to be specific but surely he can indicate general interest in areas he wants to strengthen.

Worrying he classifies Dempsey as an out and out forward; doesn't bode well for signing a forward.

He said we didn't need another keeper about three days before signing Lloris, so I wouldn't read too much into what AVB is saying about strikers.

JJ himself said that our attitude towards the striker situation changed once Ade decided to go to the ACN.

Now why would AVB emphasise our need for one publicly?, it only weakens our negotiating position further.

Very interesting press conference by AVB, I wasn't aware that Tim Sherwood was responsible for the Zeki Fryers deal.

FFS, his voice just blew out my left headphone. Crappy Apple things. Do you think it will affect our transfer budget if I send a bill in the post?! :hilarious:

He was very patient with them considering the stream of Harry-related questions. Amused that he just refused to play ball with their whole 'grudge-match' narrative.

I also think that he's aware that constantly asking for more budget and players is one of the "old school" manager tricks which Levy found so annoying about Harry. Trying to set the fans up for you, the manager, and against the chairman can work, but it also can poison the chairman against you. I think AVB is keeping his requests to Levy totally private.

Good performance, answers the questions straight, on the surface anyway.
Doesn't rise to any bait or call anyone. Doesn't put pressure on the Chairman.
Treats every question seriously. Doesn't get irritable when asked the same question three times.
No idea if any of it is the truth, but then that's his/our business not that of the Press.
Mature, dignified, has class and style.
I like the man.

Just watching redknapp, looks very uneasy about the whole thing and the press were almost giving him grief about his dope comments. If I was one of his players I would be a bit embarrassed of him. Think it's backfired on him, if he was trying to play mind games.
