This is so over the top mate. It's not about simply not winning games. It's the manner of performances over a sustained period of time. The performances were not great last year, but we amassed points with Bale pulling worldies out of his arse so you deal with it and hope that things get better. We then spend 100m improving the squad in multiple positions with flair players and strong players. We haven't really put in one real convincing performance this year. It has been laboured and not only that, but it's been repeated. It's not simply about repeats it's about seeing cracks and being worried about them being exposed. Well they're being exposed now.

If at any point we had looked good for any sustained period of time, I wouldn't be as worried, nor as critical.
George, I appreciate the response but you've taken it wrong. This isn't about AVB and where we are with him now. It's because we're pretty much always where we are now.

Well I hope if Levy/Spurs decide against sacking him, we ALL get behind him and the team. I think they need us fans more now than ever before (y)

Yet they'll all still be lining there pockets with thousands of pounds a week, while I struggle to pay upwards of 80 quid for a crappy afternoon in the rain.

I'm slightly disappointed. ;)

The only people getting screwed here are us!

More big, technique-less bastards?

Look at half our players. Tall, built Northern African/South American heritage lads who all look and play the same.

Someone like Lamela is what we need to shake things up.
So you want a shake things up by adding a tall south american who is slightly less built(y)

Because we no technical gifted player can be tall and built and have south american heritage:rolleyes:

I think it lines up very, very convincingly.

None of ours seem to. Why is Hulk or Villa any better than Lamela?

Out of interest - those who think AVB should be given more time still......

What would be the tipping point for when he should be shown the door?

Defeat next against the Saints?

the cup to West Ham? or FA cup to Chelsea?

Dropping into midtable and falling well away from CL place contention?

Remembering our targets for this year was top and if anything to kick on from that level (which has been established as our level since the Jol era really)

What would it take for you as a AVB more time advocate to change your mind and concede he should be replaced?

Not saying all or even any of these things will happen but what would be the scenario that breaks your resolve to keep him in charge?

If it was me, I'd say he's got til the 2 Jan, that's four league games and a cup game and a year and a half in total. If there isn't significant improvement by then I'd axe him without feeling bad. If there is improvement, however unlikely it may seem, and the players respond the right way and team starts playing football, I'd have half a mind to consider strengthening the squad and giving it til the end of the season. That way we should know for sure right? I mean, just how long is acceptable to give a manager these days anyway? 2, 3 seasons? More?

I can certainly see the frustration of fans who pay thousands of pounds a year just to support a football club when things seem to go so badly wrong. It is about entertainment at the end of the day.

AVB. What an enigma. Will he come good after all and finally be accepted as the true managerial messiah?

I think we should be sounding out the availability of others, immediately.

We have some great players. Better fucking players than Everton. Everyone has gone backwards since AVB took over, everyone. There has been no player that has improved under him bar Bale and he requested he be moved to a free role. Been saying it weeks and it's getting worse.

This squad, left back aside should be competitive.
I think everybody had shared your views but there's nothing wrong with what you are saying, just the way you are saying it lol

And one who, out of everyone looks the most scared on the ball and has failed with most of his attempted bits of skill. Lamela is nowhere near ready for the first team at the moment. Everyone around the club has said he's struggling to settle and with the pressure as it is now, it could ruin the poor 30m ****.

Whilst I agree with everything you are saying, all you have just said here, is what goes on every single football forum. Not just SC. It's modern football. If you don;t like it, get out of it. I'm close to
I understand that this isn't exclusive to SC. But I still don't like it. But that's no reason to get out, otherwise we'd end up on a desert island trying to get away from it all, getting stuck across some peasant girl with massive, firm norks all day.

Wait a minute.............

I've gone OTT from time to time, usually in response to people calling me a wanker and telling me to jog on and calling me a troll when I was saying we played crap in our 1-0 penalty wins and saying Soldado was pretty naff. I dunno, it seems more people now are being even more negative and aggressive than I ever was. But it's alright now I suppose. Not trolling at all.

In fact, fuck it, I'm just trolling I guess.

Exactly.

I see AVB is now pointing to our high number of shots on goal so far this season (obviously not today, as we didn't have any), and saying that Paulinho's red card was the "key moment" in the game. In other words he still doesn't seem remotely capable of recognising the multiple problems his style of football has resulted in.

I might have had some respect left for him if he came out and said:

"Well the first problem was falling out with Benny, and not replacing him. This left us with a god-awful excuse for a footballer having to play at LB. My fault.

Then there was the negative line-up. My fault.

Playing the high line with people like Dawson that aren't suited to it. Yeah that was my fault too actually.

Oh and our whole style of play. And my inability to motivate the players to give a flying fuck. And leaving highly rated players to rot on the sidelines. And failing to realise that we lack any sort of movement. All my fault too.

Actually scrap that...I'll just blame the fans, and Liverpool for 'not letting us play' instead".

There are reason for that, imo. What we want is a great manager but keeping hiring good ones. The great ones will do well regardless of budget whereas the good ones only do well with money spent.

Since the CL season we have continued to balance the books or make a net profit and this season we are the only team to make a net profit because everyone is spending their new tv money and that hasnt helped AVB imo

Spot on. Yes there are always things that go against you but for the most part it is all of his own doing.
