Signing BAE up to a new long contract should be one of our highest priorities. If lennon et al get a new better deal for playing well, BAE should definitely be next in line!

Our best LB in many years, pls stay here forever disco benni!

the only truth i could see in it is that wenger doesn't think gibbs is good enough, maybe because of the criticism about relying on kids, and thinks or knows BAE would be up for the move. it would embaress spurs and they'd be taking on a very good player who supposedly doesn't like football that much so would be happy with a good wage and being cover for clichy, playing in the champions league etc...

or it could be bullshit

if this had an ounce of truth to it (clearly doesnt), we need to demand 10mill at least!

Wenger wouldn't want him, his distribution isn't good enough.
Dont jump on me, while i think hes been very good this season, I think hes not a naturally gifted striker/passer of the ball.

basically he has a clause in his contract which lets him go for just 1mil this summer. All l'equipe are saying is that this is the case and that arsenal are interested in him as cover for clichy. that english article is just someone's article based on what they got from l'equipe which is this:

(translated from french)
In search of a liner for Gaël Clichy, Arsenal would follow closely the left side Tottenham Benoît Assou-Ekotto, the team announced Thursday. The Franco-Cameroonian of 25 years, linked to Spurs until 2010, is about to assert its stability clause, which amount to one million euros.

l'equipe are ususally spot on and guess they would know a bit about wenger's dealings.

I wouldn't say his distribution is particularly poor, he's just got a slightly annoying habbit of hoofing the ball when he has a chance of playing it out of trouble. Not always the worst thing in the world though when you have players like Bent who will chase the ball all day long.

This is bullshit. Expect news of a new contract to come out in a couple of days!

I have some inside info that BAE may be joining Barcelona. He was seen at their hotel this week twice.

Hanging out with Eto'o, or finalising a deal?

Probably hanging out with Eto'o.

We do need a new left back but by all sources we are looking at Maxwell, Belhadj, Emanuelson and Clichy, not BAE, though we could be going under the radar...

Highly doubt BAE tbh, as has been pointed out his distribution is poor, and joining a team that likes to play out of defense would be stupid.

Of course you could be making it up and i've completely missed it...

Dan, off topic but what do you think our chances are of getting Alonso?

Virtually zero. He wasn't particularly interested in us last summer when he seemingly wasn't wanted at Liverpool. I can't see Liverpool letting him go anywhere now.

My sig is very wishful thinking on my part!

I've got a lot of respect for BAE, he fought his way back from serious injury and has had a solid season for us. It would be a shame to let him go.

I remember when a sizable majority here wanted to get rid of BAE, it wasn't that long ago. It's a fickle world ah?
