Does anyone understand why he's become so much better in the last 2 games ? Its not like you could blame Ramos as he was awful under BMJ as well.

His is undoubtedly the biggest transformation under Redknapp.

it's not so much of him coming good just now. remember he had his first season with us (under jol), came in relatively young and had to adapt to the english game, so he would have some questionable performances (see kaboul, kpb, tarrabt, rocha, modric etc, etc) , particularly in defense where has been caught out of position. He then had the nasty injury keeping him out for a full season and a bit. Add to that our poor form this season and him being in and out of the squad. Any defender like any striker like any mifielder needs a run of games to see their true potential.

I beleive Harry must keep the faith with this young man as he will only get better. Clichy took the better part of what 4 years at Ar5ena1 to get to where he is now.

I think BAE is a very good player. We also have Bele in this position, but I believe we need another left back, and I hope we can sign Taiwo in January.

Nice attempt to make Bale sound african.
You're forgetting we have Gilberto, our 3rd left back. We dont need Taiwo because:
1) We have enough left backs
2) He's shit.

BAE has always had all the attributes to be a top LB imo, a good strong tackle, great pace, great delivery and good vision. His problem has been naive positioning at times and the odd lapse in concentration. Remind you of a certain Welsh LB?

If anything those that rip BAE for some reasons should be ripping Bale for the same. Both need time to develop their game. BAE is still young and lets not forget he's only really played about a quarter of a PL season due to being dropped after 'that' Arsenal game and then getting a serious knee injury in training so he is still adjusting.

Absolutely agree. I think he can develop further as well. Some peoples answer to everything is to sign someone better, but really with some good coaching he can improve defensively and as part of the team. In fact, I will quote myself from yesterday because I can't be arsed to type it all out again:

Why shouldn't BAE be highly rated? I'm not saying I believe everything in the ITK here and some of it would be slightly worrying if true, but I certainly don't think it is unbelievable that BAE would be rated by Harry or any other coach who sees him.

It is true that BAE has had some fairly ropey games for us, but he has the potential to be a good, maybe even very good left back. Despite popular belief, he can tackle and has shown on a number of occassions that when he is in the right place he is willing to put his foot. On top of this he has other neccessary attributes which are almost essential in a modern full back. He has decent pace, a good engine and a very good left foot. He is not undersized and doesn't get outmuscled even when up against someone as physical as Kevin Davies.

Of course he has a lot to learn about defending and in that respect he is much like Bale. His positioning is fairly often suspect, he has to learn to make his opponent make the first move and then shephard him onto the weaker foot or force him to cross from an angle that makes crosses easier to defend and more difficult to attack (i.e. deeper). Fundamental fullback defending, such as stopping the cross coming in and not turning away from the ball and the man can also be improved a lot. He has to learn when to try and play his way out of trouble and when to put his foot through the ball and could maybe become more comfortable with the ball at his feet. He also needs to have a better understanding with his centreback.

Almost all of these things can be learnt. I fully expect Harry to have the defence well drilled and for all of our defenders to improve both individually and as a unit. There is no reason why a player with talent and all the physical attributes for the job can't develop into a top class defender who can be more than effective both defensively and offensively. I'm fairly sure Harry is qualified to work with top young defenders. The improvement in Glen Johnson over the time he was working with Harry was exceptional and he even had far more limited players such as Linvoy Primus and Noe Pamarot defending well and part of one of the most solid defences in the league.

I'm sure Harry sees a lot of our players as perfect for molding into better players and into an exciting and talented team. Let's wait and see if he can do it before we write of young raw players who have only really played a handful of games (for a bad side) at the top level.

I think he has been doing well. Only problem I have is sometimes he tries to play his way out of trouble rather than booting the ball out. When Gomes came out and collided with King on sunday it was because BAE had tried a weak header back to the keeper. Then he had a chance to smack it out for a throw or corner and tried to keep the ball, and Davies went very close with a lob shot.

But he has pce, a very good left foot, and I think, like some others, with games he will continue to improve.

I'm glad that people seem to be starting to appreciate BAE a bit. Although he's had some ropey games, he's also had some good ones, and appears to be improving. I think that the disproportionate amount of criticism he gets (with respect to Bale, for example, who has certainly been worse than BAE this season) is down to the negative impression he made a couple of years ago when he said that he didn't really care about football, he was just in it for the money. Which may be true. But I guess he figures that he'll earn more if he plays better, hopefully he can motivate himself like that. Probably won't see him kissing the badge any time soon, though.

Has got a lot of potential, just have to wait and see if he can fulfil it. The same goes for a lot of our players though!

A good game for BAE yesterday. Yes he has shown inconsistencies but he is still learning. One thing that worried me a bit when we signed him was some of his quotes, I can't remember exactly what he said but I think it was something along the lines of him saying he doesn't watch football that much and it is just a job for him. I could be wrong but I think he said something like that. And some of his displays have showed this, at times seems a bit uninterested and lazy. However he has shown potential and I'm quite confident Harry can get this potential out of him over time. As long as he is willing to learn and improve which is the key thing.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto wants to return to France and would preferably join Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 side are understood to be looking for reinforcements on their left side and Newcastle's Charles N'Zogbia is rumoured to be a target.
But in the wake of Assou-Ekotto's announcement, PSG could now consider a January bid for the Spurs full-back.
The 24-year-old - who moved to White Hart Lane from Lens in 2006 - featured in Wednesday night's North London derby draw with Arsenal, and also played in new manager Harry Redknapp's first game in charge last weekend.
However, he has confessed that he would welcome the opportunity to return across The Channel, telling RMC: "I have thought a lot and I really want to return to France, and preferably with PSG."

Why would he want to leave after the wonderful way Spurs fans have taken him to their hearts?
I like him but I think he'd be happier in Paris good luck to him.

As some of you may know I think Benny is an awful footballer who doesnt really give a shite about the club but I must say I was bloody impressed last night.

Had a very good game, strong defensively, contained Walcott, positioned himself well and showed some nice passing....he even looked interested and dare I say committedEek

If he could keep that up Id be pretty sharpish about changing my mind....doesnt surprise me he wants back to France though. I feel he never settled here and just doesnt like the set up or get on with his teammates.

Would love to see us get Bridge and play Bale as a LM...that would make a very strong left wing.

Bit of random info i got the other day. A guy i know went round to do some work in BAE's house the other week in Chigwell. BAE was really friendly apparently, said he didn't socialise with any of the Spurs players which may be a reason he wants to leave. The only non alcoholic drink he had in his house was Red Bull, random bit of info as i said!
