Called it.

I knew we were going to "mutually part ways" at the end of this window.
I called it as soon as it was announced that he had been appointed. "Mark my words", I said to myself, "this guy won't be in the job in 40 years time. " Point proved I think.

Time out. If you genuinely believe Levy handed over signing and negotiating power to Baldini, you're sorely mistaken.

I don't believe he handed the negotiations over for a second. I'm pretty sure he was at the top of the player identification tree

A lot of negativity in here over Baldini...

From what I've been able to work out on his role he isn't a 'scout' that identifies targets but he's part of the wrap up team that goes in and finalises deals.

When his focus was on incomings he wrapped up what at the time was an exciting group of players without a 'Utd' sized carrot or the wages that Liverpool throw at players (hindsight shows not all worked out but at the time they looked exciting).

It's been made clear that this year he was responsible for outgoings and this is one area that we've excelled clearing a lot of our deadwood.

Never get excited or worried about back room staff leaving but I'd say he' done a good job in his time at Spurs.

I reckon maybe 30% of the people on this board have a clue of what his role was. The rest have no clue and are bashing the wrong person

c'mon man, NO ONE on this board knows what his role is/was in any detail,... that's the point :p

Spurs can skru up transfers just as badly with him as without, so cut that salary (y):stop::playful:

SC grasping at straws,.... good luck wherever you go Mr. Baldini,... whatever it is you'll do there...

Probably been mentioned already but you've got to wonder how much longer the person who keeps on appointing these people should be staying in his job. Or whether he should just be stepping back and letting someone else do it. Unlikely though obviously.

There's no doubt ever since he arrived our transfer business, incoming, has generally speaking gone down hill.

I'm relieved to be honest. I don't know how involved he was but guilty by association at the very least lol.
People were fapping themselves silly when we signed the players we did with the Bale money, lauding Baldini as the second coming, you probably at the forefront given your relationship with the Transfer Forum. He signed basically highly rated players who were linked to lots of other top teams, that they haven't worked isn't the fault of the guy who closed the deal, but the people who were identifying players.

At the forefront of it? Like I'm the only one who posts regularly in there. Was excited by the signing of Soldado, who wasn't, but I hadn't even seen Lamela play etc.

Post was a bit tongue in cheek anyway. Try not to take things so literally though mate, you're so serious all the time.

He wasn't a DOF .

Given how AVB banged on about needing one, I'd think this is what he originally came in as. He may now have been stripped of responsibilities and just left to do his thing regarding transfers, but only after showing how little he brought to the table.

Interesting retweet from @JJetset

'@dacl1177: Forget any success he's had in the past, Franco Baldini along with Chelsea are the main reasons we are rebuilding once again! #Fraud #spursy

Hertyid on COYS

It's mutual although his role had changed a lot since Poch arrived. Not involved in transfer policy at all in 2015.

If he does end up going, I'd be interested to hear whether any ITKs could clarify exactly what his role was, after he's off the payroll and therefore they wouldn't be disclosing info about current Club personnel.

It's pretty clear in the article what he was responsible for. He wasn't brought into identify players, although he may have had a say in some. He came in to work on the clubs transfer strategy, that means sorting out our scouting(which was a mess), negotiating sales of unwanted players and dealing with the clubs that we're trying to buy from. Levy used to do all this but it was too much and he was underqualified.

Baldini might get shit from the media, who enjoyed speculating about how he was going to be sacked but if this article's on the money then there was never any such problem, we just won't need him anymore.
