So...he's gone to arguably the biggest club in world and will be involved in latter-stage CL football every season; he's playing with some of the world's best players and one of the greatest ever; and he's been there a month. How wonderfully informed of you to write him off already.

Aside from the above, he's also gone out of his comfort zone and chosen to challenge himself abroad, as all the best players do. He should be applauded for this.

Bitch please.

Also I'm sure he will miss London. Madrid is shit in comparison and Spain is in a mess with 40% youth unemployment!

The league is also corrupt! Anyone see that Madrid penalty in the weak?! Very dodgy.

Good decision Gareth!

Madrid is a beautiful city and I'm sure it looks even better on his salary.

It's no London though is it? Spain is a mess also.

Reckon he will be back here next season. Hopefully magician Levy has put a buy back clause in the contract. Got a feeling he will be back home and by that time we will be very close to having the compete team and will be challenging for the title and champions league.

I for one would welcome him back with open arms. It wouldn't be the first time a British player hasn't settled abroad. There's been plenty.

The premier league is where it's at. All the other leagues in Europe just don't compete.

I said this before he signed. competing with a world class midfield for a place is nt the same as being given the ball everytime we attacked.madrids midfield is ridiculously brilliant without bale.. not complaining though we got 40 mill more than he was worth and got the kind of midfield most opponants look at and there heart sinks. thanks GB but were a better team now. good luck,, you ll need it

I think you're deluded.

No first world capital city is a mess when you're a multi-millionaire
Exactly. Hell, there are probably some properly dodgy places you could live a fucking good life with enough money.

I wouldn't exactly be gutted to be plonked in Madrid on a 300K a week.

Why do people have a tendency to knee jerk and cast judgements over a small period of time?

The human condition I guess. We seek out patterns and order. Or some such bullshit.

It is ridiculous though. Let's see how things look at the end of the season.

We don't even know how our squad and team will develop over that time and we are a subset of a subset in following our obsession. It would be impossible to tell how well GB will do in RM.

I still think he'll tear that league a new one in time.

What does it matter? Every expert said it was too soon for him to go there and they were probably right but it is all our gain. We now stop playing as a one man team and have lots of great players. Madrid won't bother trying to develop him further. They like the finished article to sell shirts. He now will either sink or swim but as for current games, Ronaldo has been there for a while and proved himself. It is natural that the players will look to him as the playmaker rather than Bale who was bought based on one season in Champions League and also against the wishes of the squad who didn't want him there for that much money.

he needs to work on his technique and control. every time he got the ball yesterday he kicked it forward and ran straight into an atletico player

We need to get over it and celebrate the good times we had. In fact, on Saturday, all of WHL should sing "We will never forget you, Gary."
