Is Bale playing in the position that Moutinho would occupy if we had signed him?

No- moutinho is a creative playmaker type and doesn't score much- not similar players at all

The question was more on position. if he played in the current position that Bale is in, he'd fit the "creative" role. But seems he plays the Dembele position.

If we get moutinho, it would mean that we would go 433 and bale would play the free that AVB use to let Hulk play tbh

Sorry misunderstood- even then don't think it would be a problem as I can see bale pushing up and almost playing as a forward next season. As you said dembele would be most at risk although cant see moutinho happening now tbh as he will be 27 next season and doesn't strike me as a levy deal with the fee and wages that would be expected

We've got Holtby and if there's a possibility of getting Eriksen in the summer, yeah. We won;t get Mouts and won't need to either.

Let's spend that £20m+ on getting us some strikers in.

Moutinho's a deep lying playmaker (the closest analogy in our squad is Huddlestone although obviously Moutinho's on another level). If he came in our first choice midfield would be a 3 picked from him, Sandro and Holtby/Dembélé/Sigurdsson. It's difficult to see room for him in the squad now given the success that Mousa has had this season and the young ages of Sandro, Holtby and Sigurdsson.

Moutinho = Dembele role, as has been aforementioned. He's more like Modric than Dembele, I guess - but there you go.

I think we're fine with Sandro and Dembele - we don't need to be spending £25m on a central midfielder. We need to be looking for a young, up and coming central midfielder, one who will look to slot in to rotate the other players and wouldn't mind not being the main man just yet. Who that is I dunno.

I think there's always room for a player of Moutinho's quality... BUT, I think if we blow any wads if cash it should be in the striker department.

I would happily not see another player in if it meant we at least got the equivalent of RVP.

Bale isn't playing behind the striker, his actual average position in game is further forward than the orthodox striker we are using. In fact we are actually playing 4-4-2 right now. Don't let skysports lineup graphics fool you, Bale is playing as an out and out striker, who just gets involved a lot more in the game.

Bale is playing in the position Dembele would play if we had bought Moutinho.

Don't think this is true. Dembele wouldn't play that forward. He plays deeper than Parker currently.

We'd play a 4-3-3 as others have said, there really wouldn't be a #10 type, but Bale would play a similar role from the wings I suppose.
