I primarily want us to sign another winger (or get Townsend back if he's effective) and either sort Adebayour out or buy another forward. After that, Moutinho.

Think 'keeper and defence is good. Could do with one more midfielder as should Dembele get injured I think we'd be missing a key player with no real replacement but then he is very unique. Moutinho could therefore offer an alternative but don't think he'd be happy as an 'alternative'. Therefore, change of system.

Best not to buy good players then when our good players leave we won't have good players in our squad to worry about.
Seems to me a squad with Moutinho, Dembele, Sandro, and Parker is well placed for a title challenge, I just don't understand the idea that if we've got Sandro and Dembele we don't need Moutinho.

Moutinho = Dembele role, as has been aforementioned. He's more like Modric than Dembele, I guess - but there you go.

I think we're fine with Sandro and Dembele - we don't need to be spending £25m on a central midfielder. We need to be looking for a young, up and coming central midfielder, one who will look to slot in to rotate the other players and wouldn't mind not being the main man just yet. Who that is I dunno.

Holtby...?

Holtby's not a central midfielder for me. Although I suppose he does have some of the attributes required, his better position is probably further forward. It's kind of like VDV - Holland did play him centre midfield but I was unconvinced as to how well that worked.

Eventually I can see him and Bale just switching positions at will, left wing and through the middle...

A hand in or scored 10 goals says he does fit, especially as he covers some of Bale's defensive duty when Bale starts on the left and therefore has to reduce the effectiveness of his own attacking contribution. He is a squad player who can play several positions and squad players are vital to a teams success.

Don't know if anyone has answered this yet, but no, they play in different positions completely. Moutinho plays in the middle 3 of a 433.
