I have no problem with Bale wanting to leave if that is what he wants, Like Harry and even Enic, one day they will all leave, the only ones who stay are us.But what i do object to is him talking about it publicly at this particular time when there really is no need, i feel he is disrespecting the fans who are hurting so much atm,and clinging on to hope that we can somehow turn things round....he should keep it fucking zipped and worry about the game tommorrow.

A simple answer of 'All im thinking about is winning the last set of games and giving something to our fans' would have been more appropriate.

Not aiming this at Bale, but I wonder what a player would find the bigger lure in European football - not to get through the group stages in the CL, or quarter-finals of the Europa League? Neither strikes me as the kind of thing you'd tell your grandkids about.

Isn't this CL thing just a euphemism for wanting more money or feeling that a player has come to realise that he is now so awesome that his club is no longer worthy of his lofty talents?

"Hello Barca, Levy here, I'll give you Bale for £30m, Messi, Sanchez, Pique, Alves, Fabregas, Iniesta and Xavi, let me know".

Not too worried, only City in this country could afford him and Levy would extract obscene money from them

Barca and Madrid are fantasy talk I don't think he would get in either side

I have a problem with the bloke and his fucking half hearted pissing about who doesn't wanna get his knees dirty. He clearly thinks he is bigger than the club has hardly any interest in putting in any effort when we do not have possession. And if he took a fucking closer look at himself he may start to grasp why we may not get champions league football next season.

I dunno, I think he is better than Di Maria, his style of play would suit Madrid more, his crossing would be of use for Benzema/Ronaldo/Higuian. I don't think he would be the right player for Barcelona because they don't tend to cross the ball.

I am a bit disappointed that he has come out and said this considering he is so young, he has his whole career ahead of him but the first sign of the team struggling and he wants out? Hmmm.

So last summer it was Modric, will this summer be Bale?

I don't think Bale and Modric want to finish fourth now. They did, then as soon as the going got tough, they think that they will be best off moving. They know they'd have to stay if we qualify. I know it's a bit cynical, but it could be true. He's such a billy big bollocks, I don't particularly care for his attitude. Modric and Bale should be the ones securing us fourth, and if we fail then they don't deserve it.

Shocker. I think everyone knows that we could only really buy one season of grace from not qualifying.

This was mentioned on another thread. I don't necessarily believe he thinks he's bigger than the club or hasn't been trying but for him this season probably feels like another big success; more money, more plaudits, more interest from other clubs.

It's kind of dispiriting how player's fortunes are increasingly divorced from that of their clubs.

Jaysus, I said pretty much that in a roundabout way in the Spurs vid thread. You're spot on with that and it's heart-breaking sometimes, never mind dispiriting.

Bale is clearly not your average footballer inteligence wise. Some footballers are ill-tempered mercenaries but he is not one of them. He has a strong moral code and levy will negotiate a better deal for him, CL or no CL. Levy cannot be so stupid as to sell him. The future of tottenham depends on decisions like these. We can't turn against him as fans because no player is going to be unconditionaly loyal to a club - that would be a sign of weakness and leave him open to eploitation by the club.

Anyway, we will get CL football. Won't we? HAHA

Take a very close look at his willingness to get back involved when we do not have possession, or have just lost it. Look at his willingness to plug a gap or chase a man down. Had he put in some more performances close to the one he put in against Inter a few more times since then, i wouldn't begrudge the bloke a move anywhere in the world.

We all see that...we don't hear what the manager's instructions are.

We still wouldn't be where we are today without Bale so let's get rid of this notion that we would be better off without him or with more money in the bank!

True.

He has been incredibly selfish, on occasions, however, and visibly looking for a grandstand goal, as well as the issue with his work-rate tracking back. Folk get frustrated adn vent that, occasionally.

For what it's worth, I think what he said in the interview is a bit of a molehill, that folk are turning into a mountain; I also believe, as said above and elsewhere, that if we take the worst case scenario of Modric, Bale and VdV being sold we would still be in a very good position, and, in any case, don't believe VdV will go, don't think Bale will, and don;t know if Modric will.

This implosion has been dispiriting, but I think folk need to calm down a bit.

How?! The whole world can see how massively overrated he is. Don't get me wrong I really do rate Bale, but fuck me, the way his rise has been blown out of proportion since the Inter games is unreal. He doesn't 'deserve' CL football any more than any of our other players. And at the moment, none of them are particularly deserving of it.
