Great news if true. A 5 year deal would be a bigger statement of intent than almost any striker signing in January.

Don't get me wrong, I mean, if Pienaar is on £70k then Bale should be on £300k. I'm just questioning the need for a £50k pay rise when he said he's not driven by money.

It's all about money really though is'nt it?

If we got new players coming in on pretty high wages or that are close to what Bale is on then I think it's only natural that his pay should go up accordingly!
Can't see anywhere that it says he asked for it but he's not really going to turn it down is he?

If Gareth is happy at Spurs and wants to sign a new contract then what is wrong with him and/or his agent asking for the best possible salary? If I was in his position I would do the same, it doesn't mean he is greedy it just means he is looking out for his best possible option as a Spurs player.

When did Bale say he didn't care about money?

And do you really think it's Bale doing the negotiations? Rather than his agent working to get him the pay packet a player of his quality deserves?

What happened to the 65k wage structure? Surely, going up to that would have been good enough for a guy that just got a raise.

Not really a good idea. Once Bale gets 100k, Modders and VDV will ask for it. We should have offered 70k.

Anything to tie bale to us a bit longer....or at least maximise his value should the time come where he requests a transfer to real Madrid!!

If the story is true then Levy will have already accounted for those eventualities.

We've have had years of relative austerity concerning wages and maybe that has paid off for us, leaving us now ready to fork out that little bit extra if it is required.

Its good news and if we are to truly compete these contracts are inevitable - Modric could do with one too

Didn't he sign a increased pay deal in the summer/end of last season? I'm sure they asked Harry after the Inter games and he said they don't need to give him a new deal he got one already end of last season.

You guys may say Bale deserves 100k, but if thats the case Modric deserves 200k a week because take Modric out and that team will fold

If Bale is on 100k then Modric should be on 150k, he is the brain of our team
