We need to be sensible with our wage structure, it needs to be justified with regular CL football and throphies not just one hit wonders otherwise we'll end up in a bad financial black hole.

Tbf - this 65k per week limit has been in place for a bloody long time now. About time they upped it.

I agree, they must be struggling to live with the increase in cost of living over recent years on £65k a week.

Goal.com can fuck off too. It's just a better presented version of The Sun's Football pages.

Mixed view on this. Part of me says that he should get top money and that w should be willing to up wages, but equally with the new stadium plans I am worried about debt if success does not continue and a new stadium proves to be a white elephant.

guys this is not fm..when a star players gets a payrise not everyone would want parity..i dont know if you guys have manage in your life..i've manage some sunday teams back in the days and not all players are selfish..and many things are taken into account on forming a good team..as much as you guys wont believe it, friendship..how well these players clique..are very very important things to building a team..modric and VDV do seems to be nice people..no way vdv will ask for parity because he's only been here half a season..modric deserve parity but he wont ask for it..we will give it to him..so dont worry..this is our first step to signing superstars..which is to make our superstars, superstars..so only when other star players come they wont feel inferior..

Whatever new deal that is on the table it needs a big fat Real Madrid type transfer release clause in it.

Are you comparing THFC to a Sunday team?

no, but the theory stays the same. if players hate each harder it will be much harder to forge chemistry, while players who are friends with each other will be much easier. and flaws in characters plays a very huge part in forging chemistry..

Redknapp has been quoted in the last few days saying we couldn't sign Forlan due to his wages, and Levy won't be paying £100k wages to anyone. So this seems unlikely, no?

I honestly don't think Levey would more then double someones wages for a 1 year extention in return. I was sceptical at the time when Bale only signed a 4 year deal
when we were handing out 6 year deals like they were going out of fashion.

I'm sure Levy will offer Bale a new 6 year deal for about 75k. His adviser will settle for a 5 year deal for 80k a week. Remember whatever Bale gets Willie G must get

If you consider Redknapp's interviews as a reliable source then yes it's quite unlikely.
