When his decisions, passing and crossing match his dribbling, he'll be up there with the best. until then, he is occasionally very good, but will have games where he's meh...

Does Modric have days where hes meh?

To question Bale's crossing ability is once again ridiculous!

Modric was sublime in that game, not exactly the hardest 90 minutes he'll have, but nonetheless a joy to watch.

Wales looked a shadow of the side they did under Gary Speed, very sad.

I posted a Modric vs. Wales comp in the general forum (Ratface something thread haha). He really was outstanding.

But like I posted in the WC thread, and as you can see in this video above, Bale was so isolated for much of the match yet still was a threat whenever he got the ball.

To have so little of the ball (over the 90 mins.) yet do so much with it is telling. You get him in the open field and good luck dealing with it.

Bale was too much of a 1 man band in that team. Modric, for all the dislike directed towardds him, is still a great player

He certainly left on impression on Igor Stimac (Croatia's NT manager):

http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport-ne...ryan-giggs-says-croatia-coach-55578-32053841/
Wales football star Gareth Bale a better player than Ryan Giggs says Croatia coach

CROATIA head coach Igor Stimac reckons Gareth Bale has already eclipsed Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs as one of the finest footballers Wales has produced.
And another fan and ex-Tottenham colleague Luka Modric, who moved to Real Madrid at the end of last season, admits he would love to be re-united with Bale at the Bernabeu.
Former defender Stimac, who spent six years in English football with Derby County and West Ham, is the latest team boss to cast an envious eye on the 23-year Tottenham winger following Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier in Osiek.
Although Croatia won the Group A clash 2-0 to stay level at the top of the table with Belgium, Stimac got a close-up view of Bale who, though closely marked throughout, still produced a couple of his trademark sprints with the ball and went close to scoring twice.

Afterwards Stimac made the comparison with Giggs, a player he faced in numerous Premier League clashes between 1994 and 1999 before returning to his home country.
He said: “Bale is one of the top five players in the world, a fantastic wonderful player. I like him very much, very good.
“When I was playing in England I played against Ryan Giggs and of course he was a good player too - world class.
“But I think Bale is better than Giggs. He has all the skill of Giggs but he is stronger and much more difficult for a team to deal with because of that.”
Stimac’s praise comes in the wake of a Bale master-class against Scotland in Cardiff last Friday when he scored both goals in the first Wales victory of the qualifying campaign, a display that prompted former Wales star Mickey Thomas to predict that Spurs will struggle to keep such a prodigious talent.

Thomas, who was a role model for a young Giggs during his own spell at Old Trafford in the late 1970s, reckons both Barcelona and Real Madrid would break the bank to lure the Welshman to Spain, as does ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.
Bale and Modric met up for a chat after Tuesday’s game and the Croat presented the Welshman with a Real Madrid shirt before emerging from the stadium to say: “It was nice to see my old friend Gareth and play against him. He's a top player.
"We had a good chat after the game. I think Harry is right - it would be amazing for Gareth to come and play for Real Madrid.
"I think he can do it. He is certainly good enough to play at the highest level and I hope he will come to us.”

Bale is the real deal, some of the bollocks spouted about him on this site is a joke!

It's the same old thing whenever we have a great player, rather than enjoying them and being thankful for having them people choose to focus on all the negatives about them!

No doubt somebody will come in here soon and say he doesn't press enough, won't even give a second thought to consider his ability to press with all the lung busting runs he makes!

how does the old saying go, you don't know what you've got until you lose it!

You're right of course, he should be getting on the end of them as well!

come on how many lucky goals have we got this season already that should have been an easy ball for a tap in, but he'd rather blast it as hard as he can at the keeper. His decisions when passing and crossing are worse than Lennon's and that's saying something.

He relies far too much on his dribbling skill and overlooks much better options with a simple pass.

Not half the player that Modric is! What a load of bollocks!

Modric is a great player, and guess what? So is Bale!

They are both top class players that any team in the world would be happy to have!

I can sort of see where you are coming from, to say his decision making is worse than Lennon is ott, however there are times when I see him shoot and think there was a easy lay off but he is still learning and hopefully AVB will be coaching him in these situations. I think the one that comes to mind this season was the one at united where he shot, the keeper poorly pushed to Dempsey. That should have been passed first time, but then you have to argue he got himself into the position in the first place.

He is on another level to be fair and when he does raise all levels of hi game he will be unplayable to most.
