So last week I took in my last stadium tour before the old place gets knocked down in the summer. At the end, the guide asked me the question whether I would swap Dele Alli for Gareth Bale. A tough question which I would be interested in knowing others thoughts.

I came to the conclusion that with Bale in our current side we would win the league. Yes, Alli has a big future ahead of him but Bale still has years left in him yet.

He'd have to get his hair cut first though

Bale would get 25-30 a season, so the added points would be huge. Those drawn games would mostly be wins

Have to say its Gareth - at his best pure speed and menace. Alli is more of a subtle player and reads the game a lot better. But Bale at his best is simply explosive.

One has won Champions League and is a world class player, the other hasn't proved himself in the Euros, CL or EL.

Not a very tough question.

Obviously Bale, but I see some things in Dele were he's working up to the same aura that Bale had. Dele might never be as good as bale, because of Bale's pace, but I also think Dele is a smarter player (despite his rashness) so who knows how good Dele could become.

The Welshman all day long. Love Dele to pieces but Bale is up there as one of, if not the best footballer to wear a spurs shirt in my lifetime.

Funny, I was thinking about this today when considering the trajectory of the two of them.

I think Alli has made his mark quicker since joining the Premier League but Bale had his breakout season at the same age (20-21).

Who knows what Alli will go on and achieve for us but we already have those memories from Bale and he is a world superstar now.

In your scenario if it's about impact on the team's performance alone, everyone chooses Bale.

However, I think one thing Spurs fans all have in common is a desire to watch players develop at our club, and the dimension of immense pride that this brings to the experience of supporting the club, of watching a player announce themselves to the world when playing in the famous Lillywhite.

As with Berbatov, Modric, Bale and others before them, the likes of Kane and Alli are doing that right now for us.

Call me weird but I'd rather watch that happen than swap them for the finished article.

I would vote for Alli for 2 reasons 1) We know he works in this team/system and 2) In the last season & 3/4, Bale has missed 21 games through injury (12 last season and 9 so far this season). Also, in the 6 games Alli has played in our 3421 formation, he only has 1 goal and 1 assist less than Bale has in 15 games this season.

Saying that though, we do need a back up for Rose.

Different players for different squads. Yep Bale is world class but Alli fits this team like a glove. I love this squad it feels right. I'd add Bale not replace Alll.

Bale obviously, there isn't anyone in world football who can match his pace and power, and he's got world class technique to go along with it. He's right up there in the top 5 players in the world.

Alli's immensely talented but nowhere near the same level yet, and will probably never have quite the same impact on a team just because he's a completely different type of player.

Bale is a once-in-a-generation player and we were so lucky to have him as long as we did.
