I saw suggestion of Young + £20m o_O

Not a chance in hell at that price plus an injury-ravaged United flop!
This double award win doesn't do us many favours timewise regarding keeping Bale at the club though, Champions League or he'll definitely be off IMO. Hope he plays like a force of nature until season's end because yesterday there still appeared to be a fitness issue against Wigan.

If we get any bids in excess of £50m, there is no way DL will turn it down.

Sorry to be negative but people need to except that Bale will be off in the summer and good luck to him I say. He's given us a couple years great service but has outgrown the Europa League.

That's the reality and everyone knows in football money talks.

And I know people get attached to players but this is football, players come and go the club and fans always remain.

My main concern, more than anything, is whether AVB will be given all the money from the sale to not just buy 1 replacement but strengthen the weak areas of the squad.

The truth will be in the pudding this summer if we fail to make CL. Bale will be able to look at himself in the mirror and know he gave it his all, how many others in our squad can say or do that...?

Truth is, putting my bias to the side, can you really blame him for wanting to leave if we fail to make it? He has been with us for 6 years, the last 2 of them we have been treading water when the chance arose to kick on by signing the correct players (strikers/playmaker when LM/VDV left). He is a winner and gives it his all but is surrounded by shit houses like Defoe/Ade upfront and midfielders who are nowhere near his level. If a Madrid/Barca/Bayern/Man Utd come in for him it's only natural for his head to be turned sadly. We really are architects of our own downfall at all times......

Agree with Sunnydelight786, also people moaning about selling him to Utd etc need to wake up. If Arsenal, a team that pays higher wages than us, are in the CL every year, and have a bigger stadium than us, can lose their best players every year to city and Utd then obviously the same applies to us. That's the reality.

We've had at least, and I mean at least, 4 windows to show that we mean business, and we've been shopping at Lidls for the likes of Saha and Nelson .

Well congrats to Bale on the awards . On the inevitable leaving saga , Levy still holds the cards as with Berbs and Mods for the first year of major agitation . If he doesn't want him to go this year...he ain't going :stop:

This is all so true, in honest opinion, which I realise mean bugger all, if we fail to get CL then Bale will stay IF we bring in some truly great new talent but as mentioned the chances of this happening are slim and I really don't see Bale being convinced by us signing the Dempseys and Sigs of the world.

Doesn't seem all that long ago that whenever he played we didn't win!

Or am I just showing my age??

Well done Gareth..... fully deserved IMHO.

Congratulations to Bale on his win. Must have been a close call between him and RVP but I think the way Bale is able to win games on his own probably gave him the edge.

Fully deserved and I hope that the rest of the team bucks their ideas up after Saturday so that we can give Bale the Champions League football he deserves at Tottenham.

Whatever the future holds for Gareth or for Spurs, he deserves these awards. He is undoubtedly one of the best players to don a Spurs shirt in many seasons and is up there with the best.

Was just reading the BBC article on Bale winning the awards.

Made the mistake of reading some of the comments...sweet jesus - Liverpool fans really have nothing better to do than moan at every given opportunity about things that haven't gone there way. They all think Suarez should have won it :ROFLMAO:

Well done Gareth - You've earned it...but the season ain't over just yet (y)

£50m would go towards the stadium

We have been punching above our weight and the stadium is the future and the most important goal that we need to achieve. No single player is bigger than the club

I just hope that when he is sold, it is to a foreign club or Man City
