Bassong's Injury

I missed it, what actually happened?! I flicked over to the tennis for a minute and when I turned back over Seb Bassong seemed to have broken his face, and the commentators didn't actually mention how!

Him and Drogba went for the same ball, tugging and pulling at each other on the way. Drogba went down but Bassong was tangled up with him. Basicly got thrown down onto his face :bang:

not sure if he did his shoulder in as well.... didn't look good.

Anelka had his arm caught up in a grapple for the ball, both fell to the ground but where his arm was still being held by Anelka it kind of catapulted his head straight into the ground. Nasty looking on the slow mo. Neck Brace etc on the stretcher.

Yeah the shoulder looked quite bad but it was the neck that he was complaining about I think? Wouldn't be surprised if he's done his shoulder though.

Neck and cheek took alot of the force, more awkward landing for the shoulder.


If it is a fractured cheekbone, how long is he out for? and does he get a special mask :grin:

redknapp said he was concussed. glad it wasnt a serious neck injury. havent seen any quotes about a fractured cheeckbone

This was a really worrying injury. I just hope to god hes ok. When he was being stretchered off he was crying. It seems pretty obvious that he couldnt feel his legs after a bad neck injury. He had good movement of his arms and upper body though. Poor guy, hope we get some updates soon

Sounds nasty, hope he's alright. I saw him being carried off on the stretcher and at least he was moving his neck (think some guy in another thread suggested he'd broken his neck which obviously isn't the case), hopefully won't be as serious as it looked.

I'd just like to mentioned something about a player I have always thought was a complete nobhead.

Dider Drogba. Fair fucking play to you fella. Stood over Bassong the whole time, with a look of concern on his face. I could only see three players looking worried about him, and two of those were chelsea players.

Say what you like, but thats sportsmanship, which was something I never thought I'd see Drogba show...

Bassong has impressed me this season. LOsing Modric, King nad now him are real blows.
