Very good season 2012/2013
Very bad season 2013/2014

before anonymous. Sorry not our level. As a back up option okay, but I see Fryers there.

i think people want a little more detail gents

He plays for Eintracht Frankfurt. He is 1.84cms tall, a rugged LB with a bit of pace but he is no Kyle Walker. More a defensively sound LB then an attacking LWB. He is priced around 3m euros. A cheapie from DL's perspective and at 25 years probably hitting his peak years. He has been capped for Germany at under 19 and 20 level. I have seen him only a few times. I call him a capable defender in an efficient German way. Not unlike Ben Davies in a lot of ways.

Poch and Baldini seem to want someone defensively solid for LB.

Pretty much. I'd have been really pleased if we had signed him last summer but everytime I've seen him since he's been average.

Totally unconvinced about Fryers as a left back though. Even in the under 21s he was poor in that role. I'd much rather we kept Rose than Fryers.

Does he also play for the Lilliput NT? :cautious:

If we sign him, Danny Rose will be our starting left back

He had several injuries last season, so not completely fair. His season was still better than Ben Davies'

His 12/13 season was fantastic. Something like Roberto Rodriguez season.

And Baines was also anonymous at his early twenties, so I wouldn't worry about that

Davies fills the home grown quota and knows the league.

He's certainly a unit, but I'd be lying if I said that I had ever seen him play before. We really need to find some German football experts.

I see Fryers as a CB. To me he looks too tall and rangy, and for me isnt quite up to it technically to play LB, I think he could develop into a fairly decent CB though.

Likewise. He could really become an uber-athletic CB. I think it's also easy to forget he's only 21 years old. I could see him filling out more over the next couple of years.

A good solid LB. If Rose stays makes sense we are after this type of LB as they are more than likely to be happy with being a squad player.

Would prefer a LB of higher quality, but the chances of us spending big this summer are slim. The new stadium is top priority now.

I would say Rodriquez's season 2012/13 was the about the same as Oczipka's in that same season, but 2013/14 Rodriquez was far superior to 2012/13 Oczipka's. Also, as much as I don't want Davies, there is a 4 years difference, so a bit unfair to compare them.

Fryers has the "fuck off" factor in some of his tackles - he defends with intensity and pace and is actually decently gifted when it comes to spotting attackers. I don't think he's composed or experienced enough to be a full time CB but, as nebulous as the idea of "potential" for a defender is, Fryers is a player who I think has potential through the roof.

i think we always had that in mind when we scouted him....he will eventually be a Spurs CB
