I heard it was Vdv saying he needed to come off! And then Harry had to take a gamble

Dead right it was gamble, It was like going blind in 3 card brag.. All Bale need to do was show a bit of speed beat a few players and convince them drop back a bit! Another gamble buy Harry that paid off!

Fear is a powerful tool in the CL, the massive advantage we have had is very few of these top teams have played us and we are capable to score! As Milan pressed for the tying goal and there defenders tired. It will be in there mind that we could Counter at any time. Bale did his job and he did it ugly!

My recollection was that is was at the point that Pav (our third sub) had just come on and then Corluka went down holding his ankle then limped about indicating that he wanted to come off.

I wouldn't be surprised if Defoe had stormed off, given that he could reasonably have expected to at least make an appearance and also given his idiotic interview a couple of days ago.

I thought when Harry brought Pav on that he was deliberately punishing Defoe (though to be fair Pav did well in his cameo).

I remember something being mentioned in commentary, Bale was on one of his many warm ups (my take on it at the time was he was itching to come on) and the cameras showed Harry talking to someone who the commentators ID'd as medical staff. Harry and Kevin Bond both looked concerned by what they heard. Then they cut to Bale and Hutton chatting and they both looked pretty relaxed.

When Bale did get on he looked really reluctant to make runs though I thought, like he was holding back.

I'm not so sure, he tried making the same run about five times in one passage of play where Jenas ignored him late on.

it was the same time as Harry spoke to the club doctor, from working there i know that fella is tracking every spurs player on the pitch and advises Harry on whos not doing what he normally does ie carrying a injury or just not pulling his weight. thats what the white dome like cameras are on the roof of the stands. who or what he was talking about i dont know, but it must have been bad news. anyone got a minute(ish) when it happened? we might be able to work it out by the sub's etc!

Hmm. Last night I was getting a bit annoyed when Jenas appeared to ignore Bale two or three times when Bale seemed ready to run in behind the full-back.

However, if Bale himself, or the medical team were concerned about his fitness, perhaps Jenas knew he couldn't risk playing the ball we were all expecting? Maybe Bale had asked not to be played in behind?

There's definitely something more than we currently know going on here.

Would be interesting to get some ITK on this. Hopefully PotL will have something.

I thought the same - That JJ had been given instructions to not stretch Bale.

When Geoff Scott was talking to 'arry, the look on H's face was shocking.

Oh and VdV has done that before, walked straight down the tunnel and come back with a coat.

I dont know whether the incident was directly linked to Bale, but I can confirm the suspicions on here regading his mental state. Harry and the staff are working overtime to prove to gareth that he is fit. Gareth however, beleives that he can still feel discomfort. He has had scan after scan to show that the damage is not there. He is still reluctant to commit. Harry is not angry, he is just frustrated.

Someone needs to give Bale a slap and tell him to stop being such a pussy.

He was on the bench at full time at least - the cameras showed him with a big grin on his face

He also tweeted yesterday as to how happy he was and what an acheivment it was for our first time in the comp.

Rafa is sound
