Seems like it - final price will be about £6.2million.

Oh, saw a PSG ITK suggest that he'd be on around 150,000 euros a week - alright for some!

Even so, maybe Watford offered him more, he just wanted a Champions League club and wasn't prepared to wait a year.....?

I'd expect us to really get a move on with signing a DM when we sell him. The whole Stambouli thing has been so strange.

His transfer is announced about an hour after our initial interest was even reported, he then gets barely played by Pochettino, indicating he didn't really want him, and now he's being sold after one season despite not being too bad.

Weird. I mean, what was the point in the first place?

There are two types of players that Levy buys but both are business deals in the end.

Buy and improve the team

But and improve so we can sell at a profit

It makes you wonder if this has been on the cards since the start. He used to warm up on match days with a trainer at many home games on the pitch even when not in the Match day squad - i never saw any of the others doing that. Maybe there was some clause about him moving domestically or PSG fancied him early doors and didn't want him injured and paid a premium - can't see why he wouldn't have got more game time otherwise.

That's £75k after tax in France which kind of puts in in perspective..still a lot of money though.

He wasn't warming up per se. You don't warm up by jogging across the pitch repeatedly.
You don't warm up for no apparent reason, either.

You get my drift though? Seemed odd he was always on his own with a trainer doing some fitness and ball work when not in the matchday squad - noticed it a couple of times.

think once this is done we will try and get suarez.

Certainly hope we try and get someone. With Stambouli gone there is literally nobody in our squad to play the role that is starting to look like the most important one for us to sort out.

I wondered if Stambouli going would signal the arrival of a new CM. It's commonly acknowledged we are looking for one.
Regarding Suarez, I'm not convinced he's the one we're looking at, plus also, if he is being whored around to the likes of Inter etc as a part ex, Atletico seeming so keen to be rid, will Levy really pay the full release fee?

I wonder if Suarez, and Moses for that matter, are backup plans we feel we can pull the trigger on late in the window, if other options don't come off, much like we did with Stambouli last summer.

Almost certainly not ready to play that role in the Premier League considering he hasn't played that role very much, and certainly not at a high level.

I'm not even sure how the management see him at the moment. Obviously not high up the list as a centre back option.

PSG fans seem pretty excited that he's going there

He's going to get it in the neck from both sets of fans - he'll be a traitor to the OM fans and the PSG fans are unimpressed because of his OM background and because they don't see him as an 'ambitious' signing.

Might have it rough for a while.

Stambouli in december 2014 :

"Of course, I asked myself the question whether it was a good thing or not to go to Marseille, but given the proposals I had, especially Tottenham, I thought I should follow my instinct, leaving France, and look for a different challenge."

"Marseille, it's true it was interesting, there was a real challenge, a new coach with methods that I have found here (Tottenham), but for me it was not the right moment. I'm from Marseille; I hope one day I will wear this jersey."

"I hope Marseille will be champion. Paris has a beautiful and great team, but the values in Marseille are fabulous."

"I'm a positive person. I have game time in League Cup and Europa League, for me it's a good learning. I knew when I came here, I would not be a starter. With time, I hope to become one. It allows me to strengthen myself, the championship is harder here than in France. (...) I wanted a challenge, a real challenge. (...) I'm still a young player, I need steps and this step at Tottenham, I think it is necessary to join the France national team. One can say that I walked away because I play less. But I know that the day I'll play, I will be even stronger"
