We need to make sure that this only effects the LB position. Yesterday's Bale to LB Mod/Lennon to LW was horrific (I was there right in front of Bale/Lennon 2nd half. Bale was clueless as to when to overlap).

------Gomes
Kab-Daws-Gal-Bas
----Mod-Hudd
Lenn-------Bale
-------VDV
------Crouch

And Lennon on the left is almost useless as he cant use his speed to beat the fullback and cross properly with his left foot.

Actually I dont think Bale played that well as his crosses were generally poor yesterday.

I think it's dreadful news as Benny has added so much to his game this season and he'll be sorely missed. I hated having Lennon and Bale on same wing - not a natural pairing and it obviously meant that Lennon had to keep cutting in. Also the right wing was so vulnerable with Younes doing his best but getting inconsistent cover from VDV who doesn't appear to like being stationed permanently out there. Just look where their equaliser came from.

This

Gomes
Kaboul Gallas Dawson Bale
Lennon Sandro Hudd Modric
VDV
Crouch

or this

Gomes
Kaboul Gallas Dawson Bale
Sandro
Hudd ___ Modric
Lennon ____________ VDV
Crouch

Not a great deal of difference between the two really, however you line it up on paper you'll see both variations throughout the game I'd expect.

----------------Gomes--------------
-----Kaboul---Gallas---Dawson----
Lennon-------------------------Bale
-----------SANDRO--HUDD---------
----------------Modric---------------

If not Bassong plays their were shilling goals now bale can't defend that well yet so no fucking way should he play there

Bad news that Benny is out, we'll certainly miss him.

For Chelsea I would be tempted to play:

Gomes

Kaboul
Gallas
Dawson
Bale

Lennon
Sandro
Modric
Pienaar

VDV

Crouch

I want Modric in the centre, Sandro is a must obviously and Pienaar can put in a shift and help out Bale defensively. Thats the team Harry should be playing, a bit of common sense for this one being away at Chelsea.

Hudd can come in against Blackpool.

If Bale and Lennon are both on the pitch together, then Bale should play on the left and Lennie on the right.

Even if the opposing defenders are able to read their (Bale & Lennon's) intentions, on most occasions the opponents are unable to stop them, by fair means at least, because of their pace. If we have both speedsters on each wing, we can stretch our opponent's defence wide.

Agreed. I completely forgot about pienaar. let us not forget he is very used to having an attacking full back play behind him in Baines. He compliments them well. VDV is great in the big games, but i prefer a more pressing team when playing the lesser teams.

A lot of our build up play was too slow on saturday, gives them time to mark bale/we don't create enough clear cut chances for the strikers, but get a lot of possession and corners from our slow but sure wide style. A more pressing midfield giving the full backs licence to roam would benefit our balance in my opinion

Bale is so clearly not an LB. Why lose arguable our biggest asset (Bale at LW) to fix this when he's no better a LB than Bassong is. Just stick bassong in for Benny and play on. To much faffing with making 3 changes to accomodate one like we did at the Bernabeau.

I don't understand peoples fascination with the 1990's 3-5-2. Last time I saw it used was when England away to Croatia during Steve Mclarens reign and we all know what happened there.

Still no word on the injury on Physioroom.com, and i can't seem to find anything detailing it on the OS - anyone know exactly what he's done? For all we know right now, he might be fit for Chelsea

No chance. Looking at his limp as he walked around the ground that's a grade 2 tear which means 4 weeks out minimum - similar to Tevez.

Yeah, may as well play for the draw, eh?

Why? VDV is our top scorer, playing him off Crouch/Pav with Bale, Lennon and Modric on the pitch is hardly a defensive line up is it? Get the balance right and the goal will come...we only need one if we don't open up...

Harry said after the game that he thought he had torn it, 3 weeks out at least (more or less out for the season).

The way he came off the field I do not expect him to be fit by the weekend.
