He wasn't a proper goon in my eyes, only played a handful of times.

He's about as much a goon as Marney is a yid.

I don't care about his past if he joined us. Do you think Arsenal fans were concerned after they bought Sol?

Don't know that they actually "bought" sol but its a good point.
As far as I'm concerned Bentley told wenger and arsenal to stuff it so thats ok by me whether he comes or not.

only played a few 1st team games for the scum and he despises wenger. what more can you ask for!!? he would be welcomed by most of us i think. especially after he skins some goon defender and scores for us at the emirates and goes nuts celebrating. it will all be forgotton.

welcome him in with open arms. most of his mates are yiddos. i think he'd love the chance to play for us.

this quote "just to confirm, my friend a well known sky sports presenter and spurs fan was in spain last week and bumped into DB, he informed her he HAS signed for us"

i half believe this as know he was or still is in spain as a few of my mates went with him.

We'd welcome him and his place in the team/squad wouldn't be to Lennons detriment nessessarily.

Did he say anything to your mates to the effect that he had signed?

If he signs, I will not give him stick because of his past.

I will however give him stick if he continues to be an arrogant prick and if he acts like he is bigger than my beloved football club.

I think he would be a great signing blatantly hates the goons since he left and you could tell that watching the rovers vs scum game last season when he was flying into tackles and getting in Lehmanns face.

also i can back up the rumours he is in Spain as a mate saw him in Puerto Banus last weekend. By chance Bale was there as well but they werent together.

he must have some hate as well towards arsenal since they really didn't give him a chance while others who were less than him did.

I think there was an under current of secepticism with him from Arsenal fans. They never really took him as one of their own and although he clearly was a great defender for them, he won't be remembered as a legend amongst most of them and I think it's partly down to his tottenham roots.

My experience and observation of scum fans differs completely.

They loved Sol and seemed to me loved the fact that he left us in the way he did and went to them for nothing.

If anything his roots with us only made it sweeter for them (as it was a clear kick in the nuts for us)

Same as Arsenal fans loved (and many still do) Pat Jennings, why would the fact that he played for us have any baring on them?

Personally I find it childish and ridiculous that a fan would not accept a new player because he had played for a rival club.

If said player is good for the team and does well/brings success to the team then more power to him. If of course he comes and flops for us then by all means reject him and see him as a scum reject (but not before hand)

Campbell enjoyed much success with Arsenal and as such their fans loved him for his role in that success (and if they didn't take to him because he once played for us inspite of all his success for them, then they are fools imo)

I read Robbiepope's post slightly different to you anger'
I don't disagree with you that they took to campbell because he kicked us in the nuts and he gave them good service helping with much success but my impression was that they never wholly trusted him because they knew the kind of man he was, even arsenal fans know when someone is untrustworthy.
To be fair as it turned out they were right not to trust mr "I'm going abroad and won't sign for an English club if you release me mr wenger" campbell who now plays for atletico pompey.

Sorry I disagree about Campbell.

Of course Arsenal fans loved how he played us for a fool, but quite a few of them believe it or not also recognised that it was a reflection on his character - ie how he treated us. Arsenal fans ive spoken to recognised him as a good defender and liked using him to rub up spurs fans, but they also knew he was a w*****

But hey, i wouldn't have a problem with Bentley, he association with Arsenal is not that deep.

I look at each case differently. For example, I would have a problem with an Arsenal player like Terry Henry playing for us. When we were linked him I felt sick at the thought of him wearing a tottenham shirt.

Inevitablty if Bentley has an awful season then a few people will start harping back to his Arsenal past, but I think as long as he keeps his mouth shut and performs then I can't see it being a problem for anyone.
