The People is a Sunday scandal-sheet and about as unreliable as it comes, even lower on the evolutionary scale than The News of the World. But as far as football coverage goes, even the 'quality' papers such as the Times and Guardian can't be considered reliable. Just over two years ago, when the Carrick speculation was at its height, we had 'journalists' who were and remain Manchester United stooges feeding the frenzy, prompted by 'leaks' from their friends in the Old Trafford press office.

Fergie & Wenger will always lash out at other clubs/the press when their players are *linked* however they are not averse to playing the game when it's in their favour ofcourse. How very typical.

I would suggest if Eto'o is playing AT ALL then he is not due to be transferred

Questions you have to ask yourself is

a) have Barca actually expressed an interest in Berbs

b) from what i can gather Eto'o, has expressed his desire to stay

c) if they were to sell him they would be looking for a similar player to take his place, probably Drogba

d) of all the strikers they have Eto'o and Henry are the two main pacey attacking strikers, Dinho and the young 17yr old, oh and Gudjohnson are more skillfull, and Messi, well Messi is Messi.

e) the only player who has expressed an interest to move is Henry, if reports are true.

So as ive said before, i would be astonished if the Eto'o rumours are true, it was only last week he talked about staying and the progression of the club, i think were looking at a smokescreen.

Thierry Henry was part of the Woolwich away kit launch last year then he went to Barca so i don't think it means much either way. If a club stumps up the asking price then he will go, simple as that. least we will be getting good money for him due to us not having to sell ie contract running down.

 Hmmmm...I wonder if last weekend's report from Bent's friend on gg that Berba left Lunch in the Player's Lounge 20 mins early to walk around the WHL pitch in deep contemplation, his distance from the other players, and his resigned look of disappointment and sadness when he failed to score against Bolton was as a result of him knowing that it could've been his last match for us, and a transfer is imminent?

I respect Dan's postings, and always read with interest, but I'm afraid on this issue I can't see Berba staying for one more season or the club forcing him to. Taking into account the Webster Ruling which would come into effect when he reaches 28 and Levy's willingness to sell Defoe when he refused to sign a new contract, I personally think the writing is on the wall.

I can confirm Berba did leave the players lunch 20 mins before the others:
But he did not walk around the ground, just straight across to the changing room wearing a hat and with a phone to his ear.
My missus didn't even recognise him! We were there to present Keane with our player of the year and were kept waiting, eventually meeting him in the urine testing room.

Thanks for the update and confirmation! Appreciate it.

Interesting place to meet Keano! Did your Mrs stick around till he produced a sample?

He's certainly cleaned up on all the Player Awards this season. His Mrs will have alot of trophies to polish.

The urine testing room has plush carpets/furniture, a 50" TV....and a fridge full of bottled water!
When I was doing my well done Robbie speech he looked over his shoulder at the TV where Manu were losing to the Chavs, great to think I was stood next to the man who has probably stopped them winning the title.

LOL! Quality story! Cheers for that!

It's great to think we've stopped them winning 2 trophies so far this season, and hopefully MU will make it 3 in Moscow....they'd better.
