so to clarify - as i haven't seen the interview - we're not looking for strikers until/unless Berbs leaves

so all the Villa nonsense is what I thought it was - nonsense :)

and Levy isn't going for Eto'o - (which makes me v.happy :)

I'm not sure we can really read anything into transfers off what Poyet said. All we know from it is Berba has been told what they want done over the off season, and is due back on the 3rd July.

I think it's his problem rather than ours. There is a very limited number of clubs who could meet our asking price, and of those one could well miss out on CL football next season. Add in how many of those few actually want/need him, and the choice is more limited still.

Who are the teams that would possibly want him?

would they need him, who are there current strikers?

Say there are the following he could go to:

United
Chelsea
Real
Ac Milan
Barcelona
Bayern

Of them who are likely/able to pay the fee?

Chelsea
Real
Milan
Barcelona

Of them Milan may not even get CL football so that leaves 3

Chelsea - We are likely not to do business with a Prem club unless it involves a rediculous amount of money or players we want/need.

Real - They have strikers coming out of their ears

Barcelona - Seems the most likely as Eto'o & Ronaldinho both look likely to go and that's without evening mentioning the insecurity surrounding Henry - but will we do a deal without insisting on Eto'o as a replacement?

Well according to Dan the Man it's Barca pushing Eto'o out the door, rather than us asking for him in a swap, and Ramos said last Thursday he'd rather the money anyway.

Good sum up there. Only thing is Berba better, just as good as or worse than any of there forwards?

What about Inter Roma Juve to add to that list, my worry is Juve the fallen giants.

I wouldnt have thought Roma would have money to buy him, Not sure about Juve they might have. Inter I wouldnt be surprised if they were linked with him at some point!

Juve do not have the money to buy him and they are close to signing the excellent Amauri from Palermo. So with Trezeguet, Del Piero, Iaquinta and Amauri they are well covered

So, Gus says there have been no offers and our ITKs say there have been offers from Milan, Fiorentina and Atletico. Did Gus mean there have been no good offers for Berba?

With regard giving berbs a deadline, personally i think july 3rd if true(pre-season starts) is to long to wait for him, from that point we then have to find a replacement which is never easy or staright forward, then the selling club knows we are desperate and drag it out then we finally get the player we want and hes missed whole pre season, its imperitive we are settled and hit the ground running this season,no i dont like this deadline so deep into summer,we should demand an answer by June the 1st or we just simply sell him. end of.

He said there are no offers at the moment. We have turned down three.
