Woodgate over here aswell, always going to be a bit of a hero for me thanks to his heroics in the CC final.

Keane for me. Woddy has been superb, and Hutton looks a great signing, and I think Steed has had a great season, despite what that muppet Phil big nose thompson might say, but Keane's goals and effort have been top notch.

Yeah, this has to be a joke. Unless the poster was asking for the best player around new years day.

Best player in 2008 has got to be Zokora or Woodgate.

Woody has been an awesome signing, I'm so glad we took a chance on him.

Steed was really unlucky not to get player of the year imo, he worked his socks off this season.

lol @ people voting for Berbatov - wtf???

Well I'll just repeat Joeys answer to that one...

I thinks Berba has done well, but does anyone really believe we'd have won the CC without Woodgate? He totally marked Drogba out of the game and scored the winning goal! Okay he didn't help us get there, but lets face it, we had a much stronger side than Arsenal. Against Chelsea we were the under dogs and Woodgate made the difference. Without the CC win our season would have been a total disaster. Also, how many set peices have we conceded since Woody came? How many times at corners does he clear it? People are complaining about our league form as it is, imagine what it would have been there without Woodgate organising things at the back!

hutton? wtf has he done? you lot overrate him immensely.

woodgate and keanooooooooooooooooh

Are you mad!?!?! Hutton has been immense defensivley and is quality bombing forward with the ball. Best right back we have had in aaaaaaages.

Hutton just edges it over Woodgate IMO.

I got to watch a fair few games on tv and Woody was by far the most consistant. You pretty much knew which Woody would turn up.

Interested to know people's thoughts on who has been our best player in the later half of the season (2008 only).

January signings of Woodgate and Hutton have been excellent.
Steed has performed consistently all season and worked hard, especially on his defensive game.
Robbie kept banging them in.

My personal vote goes to Woodgate - hasn't missed many games and scored the winner at Wembley, but Hutton pushed him hard for top spot.

What are your views?

Since January, Woodagte although as you point out Hutton was a superb signing too. Nice to see the quality of our signing take a step in the right direction.

Overall however i would say Jenas, and thats because of how he has turned his spurs fortunes around. Severly overated for the past 2 and 1/2 seasons, since Jnauary we have seen the player he is capable of being with notable performances in both carling cup semis showing his passion for the club and that he really cares.

O Hare cannot be forgotton either, since being dropped for the fianl he has been superb.

Woodgate by an English mile, not to say a regular mile. Or even 10 kilometres. Wtf, i'd even go for 10,000 metres!

Hutton hasn't overly impressed me, as i haven't seen him bomb down the right wing yet. Quite far from the white Kafu yet, methinks. As far as i know, he's only got one assist for Bent's header, against someone we beat 4-0.
