Seems to me the last couple of seasons will have Sky's marketeers in a bit of a quandary.

It used to be easy. The top four would be head and shoulders above the rest, who were left to fight it out for the odd UEFA Cup spot and Premiership survival in equal measure.

Now it's not quite so clear cut. Citeh have bought themselves into not just CL contenders, but within a couple of record-breaking signings of title contenders. Also Liverpool, since Christmas, have shown their pedigree. They ain't going away any-time soon. And us? We have the squad depth, financial clout, and management to mix it with any of the sides above us. imho we lost 4th place in the January transfer window. I can't see us making the same mistakes this summer. A clear out of the deadwood, a couple of double-digit strikers and a settled back four gives us the weaponry to threaten anybody.

Can anybody see any sides breaking into, or dropping out of the new Big 6?

It'll probably be the Big 5 ..

But with a big five one team will be missing out on Chumpions league, if it's a different team often enough, it may just dilute the group so that there's more bigness to go around.

Its down to title contenders now if you ask me as to the 'Big #'.

United, Chelsea, Arsenal have challenged this season. I believe Citeh will challenge with the previous stated 3 next season. Liverpool have the finances now and the way they have been playing, 2/3 good signings and they will be in the mix. We are 2/3 signings from being a top 4 side in my eyes and I don't think we would be included in the majority of peoples lists as contenders.

Sky will probably promote the race for the top 4 but obviously the title race will be the main advertisment, I believe that it will be down to 6 teams for the top 4 although as I kind of suggested, I think were chasing with Liverpool now for next seasons top 4, just like it will end this season.

Edit: Above post beat me to it!

Its a big 4 really. I dont see Liverpool competing in the long run with those other 4. Whatever money the Americans plough in to begin with doesnt disguise the fact that they have a small stadium with low ticket prices.

League places go on bank balance. Eventually Man City will push on to rival Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Liverpool will be better than the rest, but not one of the elite. Bit like us.

I think it's the Huge 2, then the big 4, then everyone else!

This.

Until Man City make it the big 1, and everyone else may as well give up and start following Rugby.

I know UEFA have introduced new rules to limit their power, but in all honesty money talks, and City will dominate the domestic game thanks to nothing more than rich owners.

What is happening with City makes supporting a football team more and more meaningless. I'll never stop supporting Spurs, but unless we get a sugar daddy, we're just making up the numbers.

As long as We have a 36000 seat stadium we won't be in the big anything. With or without Uefa rules, they still have at least an extra 25-40 mill a year in stadium turnover.

Hate to blow my own trumpet :)shifty:) but I did on here predict a couple of years ago that we were heading back to the days of a Big 5.

That was before the days of the Citeh millions, of course, so, yeah, probably a Big 6.

I did say back then that this would mean one of the elite clubs missing out on CL every year, and it would probably rotate. Just frustrating that, after our first year in the comp. it looks like it will be us missing out.

Not city, Liverpool or Chelsea as I believe we charge more for tickets and season tickets. I know for a fact that our stadium revenues are well above city's. But of course they have the billionaire.

If we get a new stadium we will be in the top alOng with arsenal and man united, Chelsea and City will fade when their billionaire sugar dadies leave.

As it is right now though, if we make some good signings we can compete for the league title next season but we will also be competing for top 4 because there will be greater tightness at the top.
