He wasn't as bad as I thought he was going to be, I was expecting Jamie Redknapp levels of bitterness.

Of course he does. He'll be trying to take credit for Kane, Bentaleb, and the other youngsters at the club.

I remember Bentaleb being called son of Sherwood, enough people on here were so blinded by their hatred towards Sherwood they couldn't see how good Bentaleb was. Then again, enough people bought into the AVB show that whoever followed him could never win.

Parker: Sherwood better for United than Mourinho

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker thinks Tim Sherwood would be a better appointment at Old Trafford than Jose Mourinho.

Current boss Louis van Gaal has been under pressure for much of the season and speculation over his future has only grown since the 2-1 defeat against Sunderland on Saturday.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea late last year and is widely expected to replace the Dutchman at Old Trafford in the summer.

However Parker, who made over 100 appearances for the Red Devils in his five years in Manchester, thinks it would be a mistake to appoint the former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto boss.

“To suggest that [Mourinho] could walk in to a crisis situation at United and turn it around is absurd,” Parker wrote in his Eurosport column.

“That’s something he’s never done in his career, and this really wouldn’t be the time to start. He’s lost a huge amount of respect in the game, and I suspect the players at United hate the idea of him taking over.

“Frankly, given how unhappy the players are right now, they’d be better off bringing in Tim Sherwood between now and the end of the season: someone to soft soap the players, give them a bit of a cuddle, get them feeling good about themselves once again.

“Sadly, as we’ve seen with Tim, those sorts of managers don’t work long term. And United need to start thinking about the long term as soon as possible, because if not they face the ultimate danger: turning into the new Liverpool.”

Seems like more of an insult to Mourinho than a genuine suggestion that Sherwood is the man to turn their fortunes around? I guess Paul Parker could simply be smoking crack though.

Classic example of a pre-PL star not realising that football at the top level has evolved far beyond gathering a group of players together and telling them to "express themselves". If indeed it was ever truly like that.

I think we should all start putting as much money as possible on him to see Sherwood's odds as next United manager drop with the bookies. Worth it just to see the reaction on Red Cafe.

The quotes are not actually very complimentary about Tim, he pretty much paints him as a dinosaur.

All he is saying is that Tim could maybe give them lift as a stopgap until the end of the season, which given the talent at his disposal is probably right, whereas bringing in Jose at this stage would just send them into a tailspin, which is almost certainly right. Mourinho would be a clusterfuck of an appointment for United.

Love the quote about Liverpool.
