WARNING TALKSHITE ALERT

West Ham are ready to battle Tottenham in their attempts to sign Napoli midfielder Blerim Dzemaili.
Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for the Swiss international who has been one of the star performers for his side in Serie A.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino is determined to bring in his own new signings over the summer and was hoping Dzemaili would be one of his first new faces.
But he will have to move quickly if he wants to sign him as West Ham have also entered the running to sign the experienced midfielder.

Dzemaili, 28, worked under Sam Allardyce when he was manager at Bolton and that could work in West Ham's favour.
Allardyce is determined to bring in several new signings over the summer as he looks to create a more entertaining team next season

A bit of retaliation over the Sandro stories? I can't imagine we're looking at central midfielders at all this summer.

I think the personal interest in Banega from Poch may be genuine considering the quality for such a price, but other than that I think you're absolutely right.

Great you just know that if they sign him or any player we have both been linked to they will get a t-shirt made to commemorate it

Don't see why we'd be signing CMs, but a very good player. Inler/Behrami/Dzemaili are all very similar.

Would really like to have him if we could sell Dembele for a decent fee and find good loans for Bentaleb and Carroll. I like the idea of having a group of midfielders consisting of Dzemaili, Sandro, Capoue, Paulinho and Holtby. Think it could represent a nice blend of talents and also allow for guys that need more time to develop to go out on loan.

This is a very odd signing if there is any truth to it. Granted he brings something a little different but i cant really see him as much of an upgrade on what we have. I would hope that our first signing is not another CM.

Agree, completely and utterly pointless. We have no LB to speak of, an ageing Dawson who can't play a high line, an injury prone Kaboul, a CF who I believe isn't cut out for our league (even though I know most would disagree) and a severe lack of creativity and intelligence in the final third. But what we really need is obviously another DM/CM. Uninspiring to say the least.

I don't think this will be our only signing (if we have indeed signed him)

No, I'm sure it won't be but based on all the ITK and media reports etc we will only be looking to bring 3 or 4 in. If he is one of them then I really don't see the point.

Know nothing about him but more key passes and chances created than Modric and Wilshere suggests he an eye for a pass that few of our current crop of CMs have.

Personally, I am very wary of stats. A post above shows he has almost identical key passing stats to Dembele. Considering Dembele can only pass backwards or sideways with any authority and seems incapable of playing the ball into space in front of teammates, those stats don't fill me with confidence.
