Anyone got any stats for this kid this season. I know he's been playing more as an AM and has 10 goals from there, but don't know any other stats, and have barely seen any of Basel this year?

I really like Embolo but I think ultimately, he'll make a better uber striker than he will and AM/wide forward - but I could be wrong as I haven't seen much of him, only brief Europa highlights I think this year.

13 goals in all competitions this season- played 20 games at CF, 16 at RW, and 3 at RM.

Cheers, his bare numbers are good (averages better than a goal/assist every 2 games), would love to see how much he's seeing of the ball, tackles, interceptions etc as well. Other than that I'm still going on youtube and memories of his early CL outings. he caught my eye then as a raw 18yo, but would love to have watched a couple of his Europa games this season full 90's just to see how he's progressing and if his game and intelligence is developing.

You can only get Embolo's EL stats, but anyway:

I've been watching him.. he got absolutely clobbered.. pure hatchet jobs at the start of the season...you could see he was playing through an ankle injury because every other game he was on the floor holding it.. normally he gets kicked & just gets straight up (I like that about him).

He's played predominantly at RW but has switched across attacking mf 3 & at striker sporadically.
I would say his plusses are No. 1, movement.. far better movement than Lacazetta & Batshuati..
2, Strenght.. he's a beast for his age.. can hold off players with his back towards goal
3, awareness of runners off him.. this is when he looks really good is when he does first time lay-offs.. he needs to do more of it because it's areal strength he has.
4, Work-rate.. This ties in with a negative as well.. he can sometime have to much time & over thinks & makes a stupid pass.. that's a negative.. the plus is he won't shrug the shoulders & start complaining.. straight away if it means running the length of the pitch he will chase to get it back.
3, Leadership.. when Macabi equalised in last minute of the first leg CL qualifier.. he was the one going round senior players picking them up.. you can see he is liked & looked up to at the end of most games

Negatives.. The major negatives are pass choices at times.. tries to do to much.. even when he runs at defenders at times he over thinks things & confuses himself.. when he plays instinctive.. he's so good,.. over thinking.. can make him look average at times.. Pass selection & decision making also needs work... worth noting Basle have been very ordinary this year compared to other sides they have had.

Another negative is finishing.. he is young & loads of time to work on this.. playing as a winger doesn't help with this.. especially in Swiss lg, there should be no reason he shouldn't start upfront for Basle.. finishing has to be worked on.

Overall I think he could be another Drogba with the right coaching.. they share that raw strength, speed & movement.. all he needs to add is the finishing

Excellent stuff, thanks for taking the time. The thing that struck me when I first saw him (beginning of 2014-15) was the essence of some of those qualities you have elaborated on. He made such an impression on me that I posted something on here after the first time I saw him come on as a sub in an early CL game. He has strength and powerful frame, but had good technique and awareness of others around him and an ability to create for others as well as score himself and works hard off the ball. Like you I see him more as an uber striker in the future and the Drogba comparison not lost on me either.

Yeah seen him that season & kept watching him wk after wk to see how good he really was.. one of my favourite young players to come along in a long time .. we should of went all in last summer for him.. Still think Milik (I'd have him ahead of Lacazetta & Batshuayi) is more ready for what we need now.. For Embolo to develop he needs to go somewhere he will play as an out & out striker... If he makes the right move the sky's the limit..

Very much agree, and we are probably not the right side for him right now. He needs to go somewhere he'll be played in that Kane role.

It's going to gutting if he ends up somewhere like West Ham.

We absolutely should but I don't think he'll end up here.

I think you're right but...if you don't buy a ticket! As someone else has said, would be gutting if he ended up at Spam or Liverpool for example, would like to think we are in big for him.

Dont forget the hammers can probably pay better wages Im guesing because of the next to nothing rent that pay, liverpool on the other hand are a bigger club despite their league position.

True, just would hope Embolo has his head screwed on and wont chase the extra money they might be able to offer.

FC Basel president Bernhard Heusler has insisted Tottenham Hotspur have not made a bid for Breel Embolo.

Heusler: "No offer exists from Tottenham Hotspur and there is nothing to suggest that the path of Breel Embolo leads into that direction."

Batshauyi ITK makes this seem VERY unlikely, tough one as like others have said could be difficult to accomodate with Harry being star man, but clearly a top talent. Hopefully he goes to Italy or somewhere if we aren't interested.

The Express are usually as reliable as over hearing a guy in the pub saying we are signing him. They've just lifted it from somewhere else though so hopefully it's true

Would absolutely love this kid. Above Bats and even Lacazette I rate him so highly.

Mercato365 are a bit like Goal.com. Definitely not L'Equipe or France Football.

German press yesterday said he's agreed to join RB Leipzig. Will be an interesting partnership with Selke if so.

The last ITK we had was that he was basically out of our league and the elite clubs were all after him... yet he's apparently signed for a German minnow?
