The last ITK we had was that he was basically out of league and the elite clubs were all after him... yet he's apparently signed for a German minnow?

The 19-year-old has now scored 21 Super League goals in his 61 appearances for the club and is starting to attract the attentions of a number of European teams with Red Bull Leipzig said to have offered him a guarantee of first-team football.
But according to French outlet Mercato365, Tottenham have also made contact with Basel in the battle for his signature.
Won't be minnows for long. They apparently have a €200m budget, and it is looking like they could be Germany's Man City. Most Bundesliga fans despise them and Red Bull because they are buying their way to success. The last ITK we had was that he was basically out of league and the elite clubs were all after him... yet he's apparently signed for a German minnow?
Is there a German Man Utd that are buying their way recurring failure?Won't be minnows for long. They apparently have a €200m budget, and it is looking like they could be Germany's Man City. Most Bundesliga fans despise them and Red Bull because they are buying their way to success.

No instead they just have Bayern winning everything almost every single year ad-nauseum.Wolfsburg?
The thing about Germany is when people say they detest teams buying success, they mean it. There's no selling out stadiums and clubs like Chelsea suddenly having booming fanbases just because someone rich came in and doped up the team.
I don't see what that has to do with having ethics and following them.No instead they just have Bayern winning everything almost every single year ad-nauseum.
Sometimes you need new money to shake up the old order, no matter how distasteful the source of the money may be.I don't see what that has to do with having ethics and following them.
I think you're connecting two things that aren't connected.Sometimes you need new money to shake up the old order, no matter how distasteful the source of the money may be.
I really don't see any authenticity in football these days, so I'm not that fussed. Bundesliga does a lot of great things in terms of fans but at the end of the day it's a one team league. Compare that to the depth of competition that we'll see in the PL next season.I think you're connecting two things that aren't connected.
Not to mention other German teams have money, what they don't have is a following. Often because they're plastic and everyone knows it.
I think you're taking this as some kind of shot against England or something.I really don't see any authenticity in football these days, so I'm not that fussed. I was never arguing that, more the general distaste for clubs with new money. I doubt any proper fans would drop their club for the noveau rich, but the truth is the a fair percentage of non-hardcore football followers are liable to float from one team to the next.I think you're taking this as some kind of shot against England or something.
I can't fathom why you think it's good for fans to totally drop their ethics and drop their local teams to support whatever team ends up with money. Unless you can explain it better?
This isn't Bundesliga vs. PL.
Maybe he should go to Leeds United? They have great traditions. It's all about the future, not the past. A club with lots of money and a good project is what most players are looking for. He'll be moving to a better league and he'll be playing every week, perfect way to build his career if you ask me.If he goes to RB Leipzig then it's all about money... that team didn't even exist a few years back and is totally built out of the Red Bull marketing budget. Zero tradition, newly promoted and no European competition to play in. Terrible choice if he values his career
Would be great if someone got hold of one of the 'other' Scottish clubs! That would shake things up a bitSometimes you need new money to shake up the old order, no matter how distasteful the source of the money may be.
Not necessarily about money. His wages likely won't be monstrous. He'd be going to a team that is almost guaranteed to hand him first team minutes every game in a strong league and that team can afford what Basel wants. It's hard to find all those ingredients, any of these teams with history could easily buy him but then either never give him playing time or farm him out on loans for the next 3, 4, or even 5 years and totally waste his career. If he goes to RB Leipzig then it's all about money... that team didn't even exist a few years back and is totally built out of the Red Bull marketing budget. It's not .. he can go there play as a cf wk in wk out for a couple of seasons & develop.. if it was about money he'd move to the PLIf he goes to RB Leipzig then it's all about money... that team didn't even exist a few years back and is totally built out of the Red Bull marketing budget.
