Same goes for Raul, they only signed for 2 seasons.

Do you know if Huntelaar didnt want a longer contract or if Schalke didnt offer a longer one?

Seems pretty unreasonable to me to pay 14m Euros for him, with possibly massive wages, and then only bind him for 2 years.

I have edited my post somewhat, I always assumed he had signed for 3 seasons, but the author of that article seems very sure about his case.

Schalke have massive debt (probably because of those wages they are paying), so it may have been their new strategy for not signing long term contracts. Seems plausible considering they could always extend.

Seems like hes wrong, just checked the schlake hp and its def till 2013.

If they have a option to extend on pre agreed terms then I agree, otherwise they would only weaken their position. If he plays well (as he def does) he will demand more wages or a move when other clubs come knocking.

Hope he stays at Schalke longer, they have a good squad now and apart form Raul most of them are younger players with Höwedes, Papadapopolous (sp?), Uchida, Höger, Holtby, Baumjohann, Draxler etc. If they can keek Huntelaar and Farfan that squad will only improve with experience.

Huntelaar has been given the armband recently, which is usually a sign that the player may be on his way lol.

Let's hope for the Bundesliga's sake that they won't sign him nor Gotze who they also showed interest in. Neuer has been a terrific signing and I don't want to see Bayern snap up all the talent whenever they please.

Lahm recently said that all the best youngsters (German) should be playing for Bayern, hope it doesn't happen.

Reus is looking very good. Gotze is still the man though. Will be in Germany shortly, hope to catch a Stuttgart game while there, really looking forward to going as it's always a good atmosphere at the ground.

Agree.

Hopefully Dortmund keep on pushing for the title, if they manage to qualify for CL again this season i reckon they will establish themselves again as the second powerhouse in german football for the next years to come. Soon they'll be dept free and have alongside Bayern and Schalke the highest prestige and the biggest fan base nationally.

I cant see Mönchengladbach being able to withstand a big offer from Bayern sadly. So my money is on Reus moving there if he doesnt go abroad.

I said several times I wouldnt mind Favre taking over for Harry if he leaves for England, he can bring Reus with him, we surely have the money to bid for him. With him and Lennon competing and Walker and Corluka competing, thats our right flank solved for the next 5-6 years.

It's pretty much true what they say about the Bundesliga, if Bayern Munich wants someone, they'll get him.

Gladbach go marching on. Won 2-0 away to Koeln. Dortmund won the Ruhr derby 2-0. Getting tight up the top. Bayern play tomorrow.

As Tobi said, Bayern have declared their interest and in some quaters have agreed a deal. Reus, though, looks top quality.

Bayern are 3 - 1 down away @ Mainz with about fifteen minutes left...

Gladbach won 3-0, btw.

Mainz with a great win against, Bayern. Talk of Bayern running away with the title has been quickly squashed. They aren't convincing away from home.

There seems to be a trend - they struggle when they face teams that press the ball and they haven't won a match this season when they've conceded the first goal.

After a 2 - 1 victory today Schalke are top of the Bundesliga (for now). KJH contributed with a goal and is now 1 goal ahead of Gomez in the topscorer rankings.

Both RVP and KJH are on 14 goals and both are topscorer for their respective league. Is there a more lethal NT front tandem?

The dutch are really blessed with their forwards, its amazing. Almost as good as the french team at the WC 2002 was it? Where they had 3 league top scorers in their team. I think it was Henry (PL), Cisse (Ligue 1) and Trezeguet (Seria A).

Huntelaar looked the business tonight I thought, aside from that sitter.
