Dembele hits 30 this year. I could see a central pairing of Winks and Wanyama in the future.

Is clearly being groomed to take over from Dembele. Although he's a different player. Dembele is unique sitting deep and dribbling to move the ball upfield with strength to hold others off. He is like a chilled out version of gazza that doesn't score as much.

Winks seems to me to be your typical deep lying playmaker. He's very effective at moving the ball around.

If we'd have wanted it to, it would have.

I'm not sure if I'm being overly defensive or if some of you are being deliberately difficult (A&C's opinion is that you're all being ****s) but this is getting REALLY annoying. It's almost as if you'd prefer we closed SC down than explore ways to continue to fund it.

Plus only having one thread player is annoying. It's good to discuss things from different angles. The article offers a perspective for us to debate.

I swear some posters think we are going to run out of threads.

Bit overly defensive I think as I seem to be getting full barrel for posts others have made lol.

Having been thoroughly told off, I've now spotted the Football Whispers Thread that explains things.

Personally I would Have him in everytime instead of Dembele. He is more reliable and doesn't waste the ball like Dembele does. His passing it so much better and I think he compliments and works well with Eriksen.

I laughed so hard reading that my cock dropped off.

I think that all the stick you're getting for this article on here: "Whaddya mean FIRST TEAM?!? He's already in the match day squad!" or my favorite "This has been done to death" are both absurd reactions to a thoughtful piece. First off I at least knew what you meant, namely: "Should Harry Winks be first-choice CM ahead of Dembele?" It's not that hard to grasp really.

Secondly, this isn't a post- it's an article, one backed up by stats, explanation and logic. For that, I commend you.

The only thing I found weird was the line "Winks' natural position is Defensive Midfielder."

The first thing I thought was: Wait- what?!? On what planet is Harry Winks a natural Defensive Midfielder?!?

Not having a go at you, mate- indeed, I believe you if that's where he's always played- but fuck me if the lad (in my opinion at least) isn't the most natural CENTRAL MIDFIELDER on earth! To me he's Modric, not Sandro (or, in our current squad, far more Moussa Dembele than Victor Wanyama). DCMs are normally bigger guys that can take- and dish out- punishment (as in: Dier, Wanyama, Sandro, etc.). Bigger, stronger, meaner..."fighters" as well as footballers, if you feel me. Or, if they are little guys, they're the tough as nails, attack dog-types (think: Javier Mascherano). To my mind, Winks is too slight to play there; rather, he's the perfect "get it and move it forward"-type Central Midfielder. In no way do I see him as a defensive stalwart. In fact if anything I'd try him further forward, in the #10 role.

So yeah, I have to say was surprised to read that.

For one match, just for one match, i would like to see Dembele replacing Alli as the attacking midfielder and Winks in Dembele's current position.

Mousa started his career as an attakcker and he had shown a fair few times his ability to play there when with us
--Lloris.-

Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Sissoko, Alli, Edwards, Son

Especially with a fit rose at LWB. Poch would have to give him a kick up the arse about shooting though, he so averse to it for some bizarre reason when he has a lovely strike on him.
