At this stage, I think we should be getting 4th. But the next two games will be crucial for that, we really need to get a result at Everton and beat Leicester at home.

3rd is definitely a possibility also with United struggling and Chelsea out of the equation.

I think 2nd will prove to be too much for us though considering our other cup commitments, City and Arsenal are experienced in these types of situations and will most likely beat us to the top 2 spots, but you never know. An injury to De Bruyne, Kompany, Silva, Aguero, Ozil, Sanchez etc could mean we do it.

I think City will win the league with De Bruyne, Silva, Toure and Sterling going from strength to strength in the second half of the season and also Aguero and Kompany to come back in. They have the strongest squad and are not a bottle job waiting to happen like Arsenal.

After them it's wide open. My heart wants to say second but my head knows we will probably finish below Arsenal. 3rd is what I expect at present but, as someone else said, United and Liverpool will both buy in January. Having said that it will be a huge opportunity missed if we do not make the top 4 now and, in all likeliness, will also mean the break-up of this team as the vulchers circle around our best players.

If Leicester win tonight then all bets are off!

City can also look really shit and I am not sure if Toure is a liability or an asset he only looks intrested some of the time and puts no effort in to tracking back, not saying we will finish above them at all I just think taking spurs out of equation everyone looks venerable really no idea who will win the league great isn't it :) I really hope we go for it and don't finish the season with regrets.

I will just be happy with a CL spot. The points gap is so close, between 3rd and 10th is only 8 points. Will only take a few defeats and your dropping positions quick. Top 4 and I will be very happy come the end of the season.

Of course we can. :D

Will we is the problem.

I would be happy with top 4 in truth, preferably 3rd in case The Spivs from West London win the CL.

Can we? Yes, of course we can, any team in our position can. Will we? Ask me again when we see who we buy in January.

I think we should aim for the top as its so open this year and see where we end up, Liverpool nearly won it a couple of seasons ago why not us.
The only thing that might halt our march will be too many draws imo although we have only two defeats those draws have slowed us down a bit.

Under the current rules, we'd get into the Champions League on that. The rules that messed us up in 2012 were changed.

It is extremely Spursy that we missed out, but Liverpool and Everton both qualified a few years earlier.

Surely UEFA should always have had an additional qualifying spot reserved for the country of the winning team! Otherwise, winning the Champions League never earned anyone a spot for the next season, even though it officially did, as they also had to qualify through their league position. Factor in the absence of goal-line technology in UEFA competions, and you could almost say they are as inept as FIFA...almost

If we finish in the top four, we could well end up in a similar situation as the last time we qualified for the Champions League. Our rivals for top four are all likely to invest more than us, with potentially several managers enjoying their first summer transfer window.

It will be interesting to see whether the additional funds from CL qualification would be pumped directly into the squad or used to pay off the stadium earlier. Neither is a bad option.

I gonna say it but we do have a great chance of winning the damn league. One game at a time, the January transfer window we need to be cleaver that doesn't mean buying squad players.

We are half way through the season and started it with only 3 pts from 4 games. Harry didn't score for the first ten or so games and we drew loads of games when we were -hands down- much the better team.

I think we'll get more points from the 2nd half of the season which will put us over 70 pts in total. 80 pts could win it so why look at 2nd? Why not us?

It's so close at the top that if the team holds its nerve, keeps a positive attitude, gets a spoonful of luck along with more 3-pointers, no serious injuries and some half decent referees and the other teams at the top don't perform as well, I see no reason why we couldn't actually be champions. Anything could happen.

I haven't been so excited by a Spurs team since the Double team years.

Nice young lady.

There's a long long way to go, and because we don't have depth (yet) at every key position, all it would potentially take is an injury or two and things would get a lot tougher. However, if you asked most people before the season started where we would finish, I think most thought 5th or 6th.

We're grinding out some good results and hopefully can change some of the draws into wins.

I'm just looking for continuing the progression, which means 4th place or above. The reason for that is obvious and goes beyond just the financial implications - it also would show our current top players that we're going in the right direction and that they don't necessarily need to jump ship to test their skills against some of the biggest teams in the world, and it would also show intent and give us additional leverage when trying to recruit the next level of players that are a little higher up the food chain and not only demand decent wages, but also want to be playing in the Champions League.

Finishing in the top 2 takes a number of things that we have lacked in the past; quality across the squad and the right mentality.

This season we have both. We can win the league, I don't think we will, but if we were to win the next 3 games I think we would be in a really good position.

Currently we are as good as anybody and in terms of points earned since the end of August I think we are actually top.

So based on the form of the last 4 months, we have an excellent chance.
