I watched the game last night when Liverpool lost to Fiorentina. I thought Liverpool were absolutely awful and it got me thinking about their results this season.
Spurs 2 Liverpool 1
Liverpool 4 Stoke 0
Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 3
Bolton 2 Liverpool 3
Liverpool 4 Burnley 0
Liverpool 1 Debrecen 0
West Ham 2 Liverpool 3
Leeds 0 Liverpool 1
Liverpool 6 Hull 1
Firoentina 2 Liverpool 0
They have played 3 half decent sides all season, us, Villa and Fiorentina. They have lost them all.
They have steam rollered Stoke, Burnley and Hull at home.
They were bloody lucky and definsively all over the place when they won at Bolton and West Ham.
Now my feeling is that over the season they will prove to be more consistent than us and will finish 3rd behind United and Chelsea.
If I were a Liverpool fan though, with games against Chelsea (away), Sunderland (away) and United (home) next, I'd be getting a bit twitchy.
If Liverpool falter and we are able to pick up points against Bolton (away), Pompey (away) and Stoke (home), will you start to believe we can compete with them over the season?
I live in Liverpool and all the in laws are reds, many friends and clients support them too. I would love it, love it, if we finished above them. They are a very annoying group of fans as a rule and it would be pleasant to rub their noses in it.
Recently I have noticed a marked increase in the volume of football related texts I have received from Liverpool fans giving me and Spurs shit, perhaps they are feeling the pressure?
