I didn't even mention West Ham and Southampton's humiliating attempt at qualifying for the Europa League.

Reminded me of Djibril Cisse's injury for Liverpool, was never the same player again and fear could be the same with Shaw, could see him losing a yard of pace from this, sad as promising young player

So Germany & Italy would both need to go over England on coefficient, right?

Doesn't look like there's much in it :(

The Europa League counts towards it too, so German and Italian teams doing better than English teams in Europa by virtue of not playing weakened teams could have a big impact.

It's a 5 year history so 1 seasons results would be 'diluted' in importance, the numbers being aggregated & all

@ManUtd: Our thoughts go out to @LukeShaw23, who has suffered a double fracture of the leg. He will have an operation on his return to Manchester.

Best league in the world apparently yet our teams constantly get embarrassed in the CL

I think you need to calm down, rather than keep escalating how bad you think things will be with every few syllables.

I'm talking over a period of a few years given this would be the 3rd season England's teams have posted poor performances in Europe if the trend continues.

The first one was before the announcement of a double fracture, double fracture is a lot more serious than originally predicted

To be fair I can't think of one player suffering a similar injury that returned to anything like their previous form and ability so he's right to be worried about the lad. He doesn't play for Spurs but he's a great young English prospect and he has suffered one of the few career threatening injuries. Gutted for the lad.

I don't think there's any shame in losing to last season's CL finalists, especially when you lose your best player to injury before the game, but losing to a Dutch team who's best player you bought is pretty lame. Still think both will qualify though.

I think only 2 spots from premier league should be given to UCL. Premier league clubs are not so strong and teams like valencia , sevilla should teach english clubs on how to play football.

Juventus is really in bad form now... They dont have pirlo , vidal and tevez.... They are not the same team as last season... This is embarassing result for city

I'm not unsympathetic - quite the opposite. I don't like it when people start dramatically speculating when they have no information and start writing the kids career off, that's all.
