How ironic that VAR works against United this time. I don't understand how the linesman got that wrong to begin with.

Because officiating has gone down several levels in recent years, domestically and in Europe.

No he isnt close I agree - Messi is quite behind him imvho

I concur with your agreement on tearing Manure 5 or 6
Each to their own but Ronaldo doesn't do the things Messi does to influence a game. Ronaldo has been an incredibly efficient goal hanger for 5 or so years for me

The final pass is clearly onside. Not sure Suarez should be allowed to stand offside, then as soon as he lets the ball run past him, immediately sprint to the back post to be in a position to be found. I think it's debateable whether he stayed inactive for long enough, well for me anyway. Clever play though.

Thats the point i was making in my head

VAR wasnt brought in for easy decisions such as that - the linesman how the fuck does he get that wrong? Thats the root cause. I accept mistakes are made but that was just incompetence not a mistake.

yup, as was said last night, that's the biggest flaw of any technology, the human element. If the ref/lino/var official are useless/incompetent/corrupt then it renders it useless anyway.

It's almost as if officials think they can just cruise through a game now as VAR is there to correct them, but then it's the interpretation of the referee and VAR refs. It's still down to opinion, just after multiple viewings especially fouls. Offsides and ball going over lines should be easy for it pick up. Anything else like fouls is down to opinion. That's where it will fail.

These are exactly the kind of decisions VAR was brought in for.
