If you add Batshuayi to this side it really changes us drastically, even if he's not starting. We've seen how lackluster our attacking options have been off the bench this season. We've primarily utilized some combination of Chadli or Son as the attacking options off the bench. That's horrendous when you think that neither of them are pure strikers and both tend to be best operating on the left of the AM3.

In the past two seasons, Batshuayi has scored 9 goals off the bench (32 goals overall). That's a mighty fine return considering these came in his Age 21/22 seasons (one being a significant step up coming from the Jupiler Pro League to Ligue 1 in 2014/15). I was looking at some stats of Average Match Minute/Goal Scored for Harry Kane and a huge bulk of his goals tended to come between the 30th and 65th minute (Overall average at 49.7' and there were a few outliers that included 2 at around 90' and 3 ranging from 1' to 10').

Taking that into account, and Batshuayi's decent track record (especially for a guy his age) of coming off the bench and scoring goals, you're talking about having the luxury of bringing on a guy like Batshuayi who can spare Harry's legs while not seeing a significant drop-off in goals expected based on our chance creation. In a season where we saw us lose matches/drop points late on, the ability to continue to pile on pressure by bringing on a guy like Batshuayi can make the difference in what will be a much more contested Top 4 next season.

And, for those who are sitting there reading this thinking paying 30m for a striker that is only expected to flourish off the bench, it's important to remember that Batshuayi was quite successful functioning in a two-man striker pairing with Imoh Ezekiel at Standard Liege. He also knows how to lead the line, he scores goals in bunches and he'd probably be the most physically talented player at our club the moment he joins (if he joins, of course).

Basically, the addition of Batshuayi not only gives us some much needed fire power off the bench if we stick with Poch's favored formation of the 4-2-3-1, but he also allows for some versatility based off the opponent. He can keep us competing in every competition given what should be considered at less sizeable drop-off in Kane not starting and at his age, he fits in perfectly with the modus operandi at the club.

Whilst would be happy with this addition he will not solve the problem we face with ten men behind the ball. It is the creativity that is lacking. If you do not create you will not score. We need a Hazard type player and pace.

I think Poch has already said that he wants a striker to play with Kane, not be a backup....

I can see a slight tweak to the formation, you could see an out and out striker with Kane dropping just behind. Or you could see a wide striker playing off Kane.

And in the Dutch league

So far Bony hasn't been able to maintain his performance levels after the step up in class to man city

Who's to say this guy will automatically be able to make the step up to the epl.
Bony hasn't been nearly as bad as Man City fans make out.

His goals per minutes played is still actually very good.

I would personally take Bony on our team in a heartbeat.

Yeah he just suffers from the fact he's not Aguero.

The same way our fans moan Vorm isn't as good as Lloris.

Nope :D it was because the post was so glowing about Michy

Yeah, it reads like a script on QVC. "This product will drastically change how you dress forever!" fuck off, it's just a shoe rack that rotates.

Good news on the ITK though. As much as I'd like to see our lads do well I'll be cheering on whoever plays Belgium in the Euros, I want our boys back nice and early. We''l have about 8 players for preseason if England play Belgium in the final.

I've seen him for about 20 minx in a game I think against PSG on Fletcher debut

Is he any good? He strikes me as a Lukaku... and can he play on left or right of front three?

A signing like this simply gives us loads more options.

He can play instead of Kane in case of injury/drop in form.

He can play with Kane if we want a more gung-ho 4-4-2 approach.

He can play with Kane with Kane dropping off in the 4-2-3-1.

And it looks as if he'd be fairly well suited to one of the wider roles as well in the 4-2-3-1.

All in all he'd be a great signing, and looks well suited to the Premier League as well.
