It’s almost impossible for us or others to compete we are just overachieving compared to for example Everton but again whey have won fuck all for 30 years as has everyone except the other top 5, 3 of which are down to just oil money. Snore

I still Love it and when we do win it means more but it’s so much harder to get over the line with our resources.

Exactly.

As if all the furore in the first leg meant it was not going to be used in this.

Should it have been used for one of their goals which *may* have had an offside call made against it?

Point 3, yesterday was hazards first goal against us in the last 8 he’s started. Does he really always step up against us or is he just a great player who we’ve actually contained quite well recently but scored yesterday?

Fa cup semi final , 2-2 when he came on as a sub in the league and leister won it, he was brilliant even though we won in the 5-3. 3-0 loss at the bridge pochs first season he dominated, and last night.

In the majority of games its mattered we have struggled. As have other teams but last night he walked past us.

The problem with this is every single one of those players should be able to take a penalty and score. Chelsea had 2 defenders take their pens, incidentally they are probably their two most charismatic players/leaders.

We would rely on the three mentioned because of the weak mentality many of the squad have and ultimately that is why we continue to lose these type of games, of course we are unfortunate to be without the three above but even if they were fit I genuinely think away from home in this game we are massive underdogs.

We lost the tie in the first leg at home when we had a full team, played against a changed Chelsea team and only managed to score because of VAR.
We only scored because of the tool used to ensure the correct decisions are made was used?

Bogey team.. Still so depressed..

CL changed the rule and we missed out of it despite clinching 4th. Who's the beneficiary?

Carabao Cup changed the away goal rule and we missed out the final despite us scoring one. Who's the beneficiary?

When will our luck be back, if we ever have them?

Earlier this season City had both Aguero and De Bruyne out at the same time yet they continued being touted by the pundits as good as any in the EPL if not the best. We lose 3 out of our 4 striking force and almost become toothless. Even having Erikson in is no real advantage without the likes of Harry, Sony and Dele to take advantage of his abilities and with no real replacements in the side to create goal scoring chances for him. We punch well above our weight despite serious injuries to our key players. That cannot be said for the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea who, without the injuries we have suffered. all too often scrape results.

For me, THFC has a fantastic self-created squad - not bought in. Yes, we are still a tad short of competing with the super rich clubs as far as winning trophies go. However, when it comes to who is achieving the best with what they have at their disposal, Spurs are miles ahead of those other clubs that have sold their soul and bought success.

Unfortunate injuries may have put a spike into our aspirations of 3 or 4 weeks ago but I don't see our season falling apart - it has just become more nerve jangling. Come on! We are Tottenham supporters. After 3 decades of hopes falling short, we are well used to lady luck being sparse with her support for us and we can take it. Next season with our new stadium and, hopefully, more cash to improve the squad, the dream of being a permanent top European club will continue and thrive as it has done for the last 4 seasons despite all the setbacks.

spot on. As Poch always says “perception vs reality”...We lose Kane dele and son and are fucked, Man City lose de Bruyne Aguero and silva and are absoloutley fine bringing in Bernardo Silva, Jesus, Sane, Gundageon etc, all of whom we’d never be able to sign or pay their wages (that is their 2nd choice players I’m talking about not even their first XI) Chelsea has been the same for a whil, Willian a player we struggled to get vs Chelsea is sitting on their bench! Hazard is world class, their goalie was about £70mil! David Luiz £50mil, kante the player of the season a few years ago, incredible player, Jorginho wed never have a chance of signing him, Pedro the same, we have to go for under the radar or young e.g. son, dele etc. It’s just really so so hard to compete, but we are overachieving we have spirit and the sum of our parts is great and we are doing so so well. I used to get so upset and annoyed losing to Chelsea etc in these big games, now I’m kind of numb to it, it’s like again poch said same race different cars, you may go ahead in the race but ultimately the faster car wins 9x/10 which is also why Poch says you need a bit of luck, when he says ‘you’ be means us he’s right, as part of the analogy we need the opposition card to break or have bad pit stops or take their eye off for a few laps etc otherwise we really have no chance.

But the hope keeps us going. Love it and love spurs and Poch.

Vertonghen and Dier were both out injured for the first leg, we didn't have a full team and we weren't therefore able to rotate for that match or before.
Simple question, do you think we would have lost last night with Kane, Dele and Son in the team?

Kane, Alli, Son, Wanyama all out injured or on international duty. Have had to sell Dembele due to injury problems and not replaced yet. Moura, Sissoko, Dier and Jan only just back from injury and not fully up to speed. Chelsea are about the luckiest team on the planet.

I agree in essence bu you know City lost Fernandinho and lost 3 matches without him right?

The reality is that we have been decimated by injures this season, the World Cup fucked us and we've been playing catch up all season, there was always gonna be a game that was a bridge too far and this was it but TBH we lost on pens and were hardly outclassed in either tie anyway.

Of course he’s had good games against us, but does he UP his game? No, not really. Hence why our results recently have been better than previously.

And your point being?
What about Liverpool?
Show me a team that when stripped to bare bones is capable of beating a fully stocked team the likes of Chelsea. Better still, show me one that can push them to the limit.
The second half performance showed that the players out there were capable of beating Chelsea, or at the very least not lose. Unfortunately we fucked it up tactically in the first half. If we started the game with the same formation we ended it with I think we would have gone through.

Okay fair point but we have adequate cover at CB and some on here would prefer dier to be injured lol.

I think we would have gone through yes. But injuries are part of the game and you just have to deal with it, using it as an excuse isn’t really acceptable because even in the first leg with the majority of the squad available we struggled and Chelsea completely out-tacted us (to use a big Sam term ?)

trophies mean nothing?

In the grand scheme of things no they dont. They won’t make Tottenham any more important to me, I couldn’t give a toss about what anyone else thinks of the club.
I’d love to see them win something of course but If they dont, again, so what? I’m not a scouser, who’s life is seemingly defined by what their football club wins. I’ll still be there the following week....( not if we spend too much more time at Wembley though! )

We may be struggling without our front 3 but take Hazard out of the Chelsea team and what’s left.
Willian and Pedro on the way down ...getting old. Hardly any goals from midfield
Everything comes from or through Hazard. He always plays well against us and seems to take a great deal of pleasure from it. With luck he will be gone in the summer.
Keep the faith.

It is the policy not to follow the fifa ruling for Lino to keep flag down. They can get away with it as it’s still a trial. No idea why they decided that.
