Yet almost everybody on here also thinks that playing PEH and Skipp together is not working and that we should use other midfielders.

And will have just witnessed us being absolutely bummed until we brought on TND, Winks, Lo Celso. And then suddenly we had a lot of possession and a couple of chances

Conté lost us this game and it's about time he stopped this point-making / experiment / mistake
I don’t agree. Chelsea had won the game (very easily) and step off the pace. The changes we made looked better because of that.

Watched the highlights. Is it just me, or is Emerson a complete wimp? One against one he looks so weak. As for Tanganga… boy he had a stinker.

I'd say all players behave like wimps whenever it suits them and whenever they think they can con the officials into giving free kicks or whatever. You're dead right about Tanganga though.

I actually watxhed that game very calmly. Normally I'd be pulling faces of disappointment and groaning every 5 seconds but I think knwoing we have Conte at the helm and knowing this squad is so far off Chelsea provided a lot of comfort.

If we had a better squad and played like that I'd maybe be a little concerned about the future but I think I'll spend the rest of this campaign rather relaxed.

Wow. In Conte we trust eh?

leave aside the fact that Chelsea have better quality players, they also have a properly balanced squad that allows Tuchel to be flexible. Conte is kinda stuck with limited options. That’s about the only positive I can take from this.
Whilst the part about Chelsea is true I’m not sure Conte has made the best use of the squad over these last few weeks.Too many players with too many minutes in a short period of time is catching up with us.

Difficult scoreline now, do we push for it and try and get back in the game or give a couple of the players a rest knowing we have arguably our biggest game in the battle of 4th just a few days later.

Least we can rest players at the weekend but yeah….kinda feels like this semi is over now unless we somehow find our goalscoring boots before then, if it was a 1-0 scoreline fair enough but to find 2/3 goals and keep them shut out is a very big ask.

Very astute assessment all round there - in particular Conte being at fault for lack of tactical/substitutional changes when needed in the last three games. Of course its still early days in his tenure, and he's just working with what he has inherited, so can't be too critical of him at this stage.

It has been a feature in recent games but he is also massively hamstrung by the squad available to him. He's struggling to make subs because he doesn't have enough players he trusts. The ones he has are knackered.

No way he'd want to play Doherty as an inverted WB in any game, but he doesn't really have a choice as Sessegnon is always injured and Gil is a kid who has never played there.

Son and Kane badly need a rest but Dele has lost it and Bergwijn is constantly injured and we have no backup striker.

Lo Celso is constantly injured and Ndombele can't be arsed leaving us with 3 CM options.

For whatever reason he doesn't trust Rodon so he had to totally de-stablise the back 3 without Dier.

Emerson is struggling but we have no other RWBs, and can't really try a winger there as we have no depth up front and once again Bergwijn is constantly injured!

I'm giving Conte a lot of patience as he has asked. I just hope he's here for a long time to actually build us back into a competitive side.

Interestingly Tuchel basically admitted he was forced into the 4-2-3-1 due to Thiago Silva getting covid so it wasn't a tactical masterclass from him, although has probably set the blueprint for playing us now.

To me they still looked energetic to the end. I just think we wrestled some of the possession off them, started looking dangerous and they decided to sit back and try to pick us off rather than press

Yep, spot on - he's working with very thin resources (coupled with everyone playing to the point of exhaustion).

Like you as long as Conte stays for at least a couple of years and is backed I'm relaxed, but that was a much changed Chelsea team tonight and should have been there for the taking.

It went horribly wrong. No Kante, Mendy, Kovacic, James, Chilwell, Silva. That is a big chunk of their competitiveness right there.

Hopefully they rest a few again next week ahead of City thinking it's job done.

IMO we need to rest everyone this weekend and give it a real go next week. Arsenal have to go to Anfield next Thursday so are in the same boat as us really, if not worse off.

Obviously we've got bigger issues at present but I am becoming increasingly worried that Kane and Son have both gone a solid 4/5 months playing really quite poor football. Son has popped up with some important goals but their all-round play is just miles behind what it was last season - touch is all over the shop, they're losing their 1v1 battles and the quality of final action is missing.

Going to be really tough to challenge for top 4 if our only two players who would actually start for the other top teams continue to be this poor.

I took a nap 1.5hrs before the game. (Time zones) woke up 15 minutes before the game saw the line up (skipp & hojbjerg)...looked at Chelsea's line up and told my sons we getting beaten here and am gonna rather sleep.

I said the other day (after the Watford game)an overhaul is needed...

Out
Doherty
Lo Celso
Ndombele
Tanganga
Davies

Whilst selling 5 we need at least 6-8 new players. I'm kt sure why Conte persists with Skipp & Hojbjerg in CM.... it's either or for me. We devoid of any spark with both in the team.

Yep one owner spend money to enjoy football and the other invested our money to build their fortune. No morals there.

If you think our owners are corrupt and Chelsea's are so much better then why on earth are you hanging around here when there's so much glory with "honour" to be found elsewhere?

Serious question. I don't understand why Spurs fans who lust after the bought titles of City, PSG and Chelsea don't just jump ship.

Their owners don't "care" they just spend others peoples blood and their fans lap it up.

2-0 is a dangerous score. Chelsea won’t be able to help thinking they’re already in the final. Full house , White Hart Lane, big atmosphere and an early Spurs goal , first 20 minutes and they’ll find it difficult to get back mentally.
I think our names on the cup. Not joking.

Agreed, I'd hate us to take a two goal lead into the second leg of a semi final.
