Vertonghen in place of Dier is a good shout, but I think Mason could do a decent job. I'd be more tempted to have Dembele slot ito Dier's role - dropping back between the CBs and have Mason play in front of him. Mason's dsitribution is wonderful so I think he could cause them problems. One of those games where if Lamela plays well, then we'll have every chance of stuffing them.

Double important tonight. Do Chelski do the Arses and grab 2nd spot. I thought Mason livened us up last Monday. I was. Begging Poch to bring him on for Dier when he got injured COYS

Not since he's come back IMO.

Cameo appearances aren't really an opportunity for him to do anything though are they. I'd argue that if Erickson or Lamela was given between 5 and 10 minutes of game time sporatically, we'd bemoaning them for the same thing. The reality is, Mason, when he starts doesn't tend to let us down. I'd be perfectly confident with him starting for us tonight.

We don't have many choices so we have to go with what we've got. Personally I think we'll struggle if Dier is out. Nothing against Mason at all but I think he's been sloppy since coming back. Hope he pulls it together if he plays though.

Very true - look. obviously I wouldn't advocate playing Mason in Dier's stead, but I think we always tend to forget how good some of our players are when we haven't seen them for a while. This time last season, Mason was an automatic starter whose exclusion we would bemoan on the occasions he was left out. He can do a job for us - no reason for us to think that just because Dier is out, we're going to lose the midfield battle.

Interesting stay on the BBC. Chelsea have only kept one clean sheet in their last ten games.

Isn't Courtois suspended tonight as well? Not that Begovic is a bad replacement.

Seen a video there of the players getting off the team bus all dressed in navy training gear. Dier was there but was wearing a grey hoodie. Hopefully doesn't mean anything

Hate to be that person, but I really would not be surprised if Begovic had a worldie against us. He's a good keeper and if I recall correctly he doesn't like us, or at least turned us down once.

Mason just doesn't have the defensive nous to play in Dier's role, he and Bentaleb were major contributors in us leaking goals last season with their piss poor defending. Mason is clearly more suited playing as the guy next to a DM or in behind Kane.

Hope we are fully at it tonight and there is no evidence (however slight) of giving up after the League was effectively gone last Monday.

Hopefully Poch would not let that sore fester among the players...
