Take away our pressing game and what are we, pretty average I'd guess.
This. We can bring back Toby, Danny, Erik, whoever...the problems would still be there. We are fairly average on the ball, and we will be until some proper signings are made.

If were honest, our 'squad' shouldnt be anywhere near the likes of City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd but today proves we are right in amongst it, considering the wages and transfer fees those teams pay (and i know Leicester winning the league last season shows it can be done, but that was somewhat of an anomaly) we as fans have to accept until we can go out and purchase top quality players for positions we are screaming out for these results are gonna happen, the naievty and experience right down to the manager shows at times, but we are a bloody good side that are building our way to the top, im proud of the lads...what i would give for a winner like Van der Vaart or even Davids just to give this squad the belief to go on and win things, i believe we are capable...

COYS... I'm Tottenham til i die
I accept what you are saying but it doesn't help that we appear to have blown another £47M on Sissoko and Janssen. We have less money than those you mentioned so can't afford to waste anymore money. Since the Bale money we have a 1 in 4 success rate on player purchases, that must be addressed urgently. We have proved with Toby, Dele and Victor that you can get very good signings without breaking the bank.

But you agree we needed another option to Dier in that role? We went out and bought the best possible player that we could to offer us that, but Dier started the season poorly and was dislodged by Wanyama because he was playing better.

When you say 'we didn't need a replacement for Dier, we needed cover' are you suggesting that we should have gone for a lesser player who wasn't capable of replacing him when fit?

I want us to sign players that are better (as hard as it is) or at least capable of being better than what we have, as competition and improving the team and squad are the only way that we'll progress and move forward.
Agree in principle with what you're saying.
Im saying on a list of priorities of where we needed to fork out the most cash Diers position wasn't it.
Yes we needed cover definitely and I'm definitely not having a pop at Wanyama.
I just think that the money could have been better spent.
Think we'd all agree on that.

Agree.
Our record signings in recent years is terrible.
Rebrov, Bent, Bently, Soldado, (Lamela, just kidding... jeez) and now Sissoko. Sure theres probably more.
As you said we're just not rich enough to be so fkin blasé with money.
On the other hand our record of spending less and selling for more is pretty impressive.
I sometimes think us and Liverpool are have a competition to see who can piss the most money up the wall lol.
Bit like those old twats in Trading places.
Levy won a fiver lol.

what happened there between poch and conte?
That was very odd.
MP had his arms all over Conte like he was drunkenly lecturing his best mate on how much he loved him.
And bizarrely Conte was listening as if his life depended on it.

And perhaps his life was on the line, as while they looked friendly enough, I think Conte's usual over re-actions were driving MP up the wall.

I was just rewatching the highlights of the 5-3 NYD game and the one thing that struck me was how good Chadli played and how much Bentaleb pressed. Can't help but feel we gave up on these 2 a bit soon.

My understanding is that we didn't give up on Chadli, he gave up on us.
We wanted him to stay but he wanted to play more first team football so chose to go to West Bromwich Albion, we treated him fairly and allowed him to leave.
Not sure Nabil would be playing much now anyway.
That game was at home so I think a better comparison would be the league cup final a couple of months later.

We only paid £12m for Wanyama, that was bloody good business.

We paid more for both VJ and Sissoko.

Fucking Poch interview - this man is starting to piss me off now! same old shit every week, if he is not inspiring me, what is he doing with the players.

I don't want him sacked as think he will turn it round, BUT he needs to start being honest in his interviews, had enough of this "stats, we were the better team rubbish" we are not good enough at the moment, face facts and not stats. 1 win in 10, 2 goals in open play in over 8 games.

Its not good enough and Poch needs to realise it.

Would you prefer a full Sherwood meltdown destroying the player's confidence every week?
