I genuinely think in Eriksen and Lamela we have perfect Modric and Bale replacements / upgrades. Both technically far more able than their predecessors at an earlier age (both are still only 21). Exciting times.

If this goes through please spare a thought for our friends in Liverpool. Don't think us losing Willian will make them any less apoplectic.:D #getyourownfuckingscouts

As with all other transfers - no cigar until he's holding the shirt

I'm over Bale going - life goes on. Chirches, Eriksen and Lamela would cap off a literally incredible close season for us.

Would it be too much to ask for Coentrao as well?

Took the words right out of my perfectly proportioned and rather moist mouth.

I think there will be a LB coming too. I think Coentrao is clearly favourite, but it sounds as though we have alternatives in mind, Perreira and
Balzaretti have been mentioned this week.
I'm also still convinced, that if either of Ade or Defoe go, we will be in for another striker, Damaio just sticks out as the potential target.
But if we start with Eriksen, Lamela and Chiriches in the wake of Bale, I'll be more than happy.

I am excited about this

But I do wonder the impact on the squad.

We will typically line up with either two or three creative player to link Soldado to the incredible midfield we've built

So that would seem to be Townsend, Lamela, Lennon, Siggurdson, Eriksson, Holtby

That's too many although Holtby is so versatile that he is also included in the other category

At least one has to go. And Siggurdsson, due to his agent, looks like a strong candidate. But does that mean we might see Lennon or Townsend go? Because I don't think any of us want Townsend leaving. But Lennon is supposedly a fave of Levy's. :nailbiting:

I really have nothing against either but speaking totally dispassionately I think Siggy and Lennon have the sword of Damocles hanging over them now and should be very worried.

That is IF we sign both EL and CE.

Sign Eriksen. Open battle with Holtby for behind Soldado. Move Siggy permanently to LF and let him battle it out with Chadli. Lamela and Townsend for RF. Oh and hopefully loan out Carroll for consistent time.

We desperately need a dead ball specialist. The opening two PL games have been very poor in this area.

Both homegrown. Whilst there's still space for reducing the homegrown quota, we can't keep selling them.

It's ridiculous isn't it? I mean a bunch of professional footballers who train nearly every day and they can't learn to take decent corners or take decent free-kicks. Baffles me.

This is an absolute no brainer for me. Smacks of a Levy signing, opportunity to buy a proven Champs league performer for a incredibly low price, even 15m Euros is what 12.5m sterling? 21 years old, will only improve coming and playing with better players, speaks good English, has his mate Vertonghen here, possible re-sale value. People are entitled to their opinion of course but people saying we could do better i just don't agree, better would be Pastore (at the price a big gamble) and Ozil (isn't going to come) Mata (Peeerrrleeeeeaaaase, not on your nelly) Would be a great bit of business. I'd love to see us as active as possible if the right players become available but equally id save that money for January when i reckon there may be a few disgruntled players around and spend it wisely then, we could be looking a really attractive proposition then to some of these massive names if they aren't playing at PSG, Bayern,Dortmund, Real etc. IF we can add Chirches, Lamela and Eriksen i will be pinging off the walls this window and we'd still have a healthy looking bank balance.

It seems a lot of people here really haven't followed Eriksen that closely. Otherwise, you'd be much more excited about what we are getting. All you need to know is that he has more Champions League experience than virtually anyone on our squad and was arguably the best player on the pitch against Man City last fall when Ajax beat them 3-1 in the group stages of CL. He can score goals from outside the box with both feet. Besides Ginola, when have we ever had a player who could do that

He is absolutely world class in dead-ball situations. Anyone suggesting he won't have a place in our starting XI is just flat out wrong. No one on this squad is anywhere near his class in taking free kicks, and frankly, he'll be the best corner taker we've had in years.

He and Lamela will be the two best players at the club for the next 5 years. He's a steal at 10 million Euros, or even 15 million Euros.. Watch and see....

Which considering the size of Kaboul, Paulinho, Capoue, Vertonghen, Sandro, Dembele, Dawson, Chriches, Chadli could equate to another 10 goals a season that we miss out on.

Although you know he'll forget how to take them once he pulls on a Spurs shirt.

That's only because he got him for 1m :)
