Christian Eriksen - Completed

Maybe some Dane or Ajax fan will correct me, but I'm sure Eriksen can play in the midfield of the 4-3-3 or in one of the wide positions of that same system.

I'm sure he can operate in a number of positions across the midfield.

I think we're trying to build a squad so that no matter who we rotate the team is not really weakened like it has been previously so I'm all for this signing if we can get it done.

In the midfield in 4-3-3 or in the hole in 4-2-3-1, is where he is would be best, wouldn't use him in the wide positions

Remember when Eriksen was mentioned in the same sentence as Eden Hazard? I really think they are a bit of the same, although Hazard clearly have stepped up several notches since then.

I hope Eriksen's lack of progression is because he has outgrown Ajax and Eresdivisie, and will take those steps with us. After viewing some some of his youtube videos, I remember why I fancied him a couple of years ago. He is fucking good!

Hopefully we'll get him. In Levy we trust.

If it were last summer - we might ask questions. But now he clearly has the full backing of the board.

To the tune of us spending £100m+ in 6 weeks on his choices. That's more than we've spent in the past 5 years.

Levy trusted him enough to pass on Eriksen and agree £22m MORE for an OLDER Willian.

Levy must have hated that, but backed AVB's call.

Willian is quicker hence more tactically flexible to play wide positions.

We could probably have a slightly slimmer squad with Willian, that's the massive upside.

It's not a £22m upside.

I've no doubt AVB's signed off on him.

Good insight. Its your Willian comment that makes me question this purchase.

No nothing about him. A better player? Similar price?

About 20mil i hear is his release clause ... Absolute gem of a player with great tekkers. Probably more potential than Eriksen, and will fit in AvBs line up more so than the Dane. IMO

At the price being mentioned, this could possibly be our best buy this season. The boy oozes class and believe it or not, i think we've finally replaced the loss of Modric with Eriksen. Top top signing, amazing window. Franco and Levy deserve all the plaudits

Greizmann's release clause is 30 million euros and he is not a 10.

My earlier posts would suggest that Lamela should be playing more central and we should get a WF to allow Lamela more of the ball and to utilise the goal scoring threat he possesses. You are correct about the release clause

"Tottenham are working on a deal to sign 21-year-old Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen. There is no agreement in place yet and the highly-rated Dane would still need to undergo a medical and agree terms."

I like Eriksen a lot from what I've seen, and can't believe I can find myself typing this, but is he really what we need? We have so many attacking options and play a different system to previously (i.e. do we need a Modric-esque no.10 type, given the signings so far). Also, Tom Carrol is coming along nicely. Ah, who am I trying to kid! Bring him in!

I know the speculation surrounds Siggy but I wonder where it leaves Holtby as well?

Expect some movement on one of these - maybe a loan move.

Hopefully Holtby stays (if one of them has to jet).

PS. Because between Eriksen (fingers crossed) and Holtby, we should have the #10 covered.

Holtby is a creative player, there is no way he will be leaving. Especially if Lamela gets injured and we actually sign him and officially announce it.

i doubt he'll need any persuading but just in case, we have uncle jan waiting on the other line.
I do imagine the talks would go something like this..

"Hello Christian, welcome to Spurs! We have so far signed Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Lamela and Chiriches. We would like you to join us too"

Done!
