Love him but he goes missing far too often to demand a move to any club better than us.

Agreed. Whether he'd play better in a team that didn't have as many on pitch problems as us I don't know but based on his performances in a Spurs shirt, I don't think I'd lost much sleep if he were to leave. Then again, that goes for 99% of the team.

he's already knocking on world class, not there yet.. inevitable he ends up somewhere.. i wonder if the BSoDL have been plotting a profit on Eriksen out , Holtby sweet talked into coming back

Wouldn't be gutted to see him go.

Obviously talented but doesn't deliver regularly enough to make him indispensible, and when he has an off day he's an absolute liability.

I keep hoping that we'll find the right place to play him and it will suddenly click consistently, but to be honest whilst he's been considerably better than Lamela and Soldado, I wouldn't be overly concerned if he went out with those two.

This.

He is?

Not in his performances for us he isn't!!

Way too inconsistent, world class he would be having a heck of a lot more influence on our team and winning more MOTM awards. Which he is doing neither of.

Because it's negative.
There were no quotes from bale saying he wanted to go to Madrid, he didn't go did he?!

The level of denial last summer was infuriating.

One article in a dubious paper doesn't mean much, but sometimes it's pretty obvious what's going on, and Bale last summer was a perfect example of that. The constant smug derision and cry of 'no quotes' from people who don't have the first idea how agents and players use the press to instigate potential transfers was, and continues to be, embarrassing.

Quotes are great, but there are plenty of stories of substance with no quotes at all (and for good reason).

One of the few players we have that can show some magic here and there and one of the few players we have that I feel some love towards and like to watch. Still only 22. I want him to stay.

Agreed. Lots of flair but very flaky to.

If we see more of what we saw against Everton I'd be delighted if he was here long term. If that's a one off, I wouldn't lose a winks sleep over it.

I want players here who completely buy into what we're doing and really put in the effort for the cause.

In fact its potentially a sale I think we could get well over paid on - with someone like PSG.

But I guess we'll see what happens over the rest of the season, more of an idea then.
If he leaves, it'll be worrying in terms of team creativity. Hope he stays at least another 18 months.

£30-40 mill looks great on paper, but as seen with the Bale warchest - finding suitable replacements can be difficult.

He's a very talented player but I'm not convinced he's suited to the premier league really.

He's a bit like Mata (though not as good, yet) in the sense there isn't really a natural position for him to play in a modern premier league formation. He can produce some exceptional stuff, but his contribution to the team as a whole leaves us massively exposed. The only way I can really see him working is off a main striker, similar to VdV.

Another one that will leave us and who can blame him if he has ambition but will go on to become a very good player for someone.
Very frustrating but unfortunately we are a conveyer belt football club that develops the young and generates a Profit for good measure the enic/levy dream we are living it now.

Yeah agree. I'd like him to stay but more important to me is that we have a group that are completely buying into what the manager wants. And that needs to be backed up by what we see on the pitch.

Not surprised really, why would you want to add extra years to your contract at a club that's going backwards. He went from playing champions league football to watching it on TV and doesn't look like playing it any time soon.

Bale, Modric, Berbatov and Carrick all went through media campaigns over multiple transfer windows. At the moment this story has as much substance as the Vertonghen to Liverpool one this morning so there's no point letting it influence you one way or the other at this point. Of course a player can always leave at any time but what's the point in anyone jumping all over this? All it does is cause people to turn on the player in question as we've seen many times now. If anything is embarrassing it's that, not people asking for a bit of reason over a Daily Express article.

I agree.

As I said, one article in a crap paper means nothing. I was really getting at the notion that an article requires quotes in order to be seen as anything other than bullshit, which is nonsense.

I don't think anyone put forward that notion but fair enough. Obviously agents and clubs use the press but Eriksen is still young, it would be unusual for us to sell him at this stage when his value will keep going up. It would just be very unlike Levy to pull the trigger on this one so soon unless PSG offered mega bucks or some less than likely player plus cash deal.

BT is a tabloid, but still much more reliable than Daily Express. The original article clearly shows that Eriksen's agent Martin Schoots has been spilling the beans, in a similar fashion to previously published agent-sourced articles.

Unsurprisingly, Daily Express puts much more emphasis on negativity compared to the original article, which sounds quite neutral to me.

I see it time and time again. Mainly on the front page in response to any article which doesn't have quotes.

Re Eriksen: it usually depends on how much of a stink the player in question is willing to kick up. The only time we've really gone against a player aggressively pushing for a move was Modric to Chelsea.

Personally I don't see Eriksen going this summer because he hasn't proven himself to be worth anything near what Levy would be willing to sell for. No top English club would risk big bucks on him, and none really need a player like him anyway. Madrid or Barca wouldn't go for him yet. As you say, PSG are really the only club I could see going for him and putting up the kind of money that would be seen as tempting.

Wouldn't be that bothered to see him leave. Doesn't effect games anywhere near enough and is a passenger when things are not going well.
