Will be interesting to see how we cover Kane given this transfer would surely mean no Martial, although we may just keep Llorente for another year. If we sell Llorente this window hopefully Son is backup and should Kane or Son be injured we call up some youth to the bench. Much rather that than spunk £20m down the drain.
Son, playing a false-9, with lots of movement among the front line.

I genuinely hope that we don't have to use Llorente, he was fucking atrocious. We'd have been better off playing one of our youngsters.

Perfect example of why teams wait in a transfer window, if we bid before other teams have done their business, other teams will obviously bid on him too. Most teams currently don't want to gamble on him just yet, but will if their hand is forced.
But see, that can work in our favor also - if this takes a team out of the bidding for another player.

Pulisic is an out and out attacking mid as far as I'm aware. If we're showing concrete interest then that'll be Pulisic, Dele, Eriksen, Son, Lucas, Lamela. Considering Lucas could barely get a game, we must be changing formation next season surely?

I think Lamela is likely to be off based on the links to attacking players.

I don't really have an issue with that as Lamela, despite not being as bad as some reckon, is also nowhere near as good as others reckon and I think there is scope to improve there.

My only concern that be without Lamela, there could potentially be a lack of guile in the squad, with all of our other attacking players (apart from Eriksen) being quite direct.

Maybe Poch is looking at the central midfield options available to us and wondering whether Eriksen can drop back. Doesn't seem particularly likely though.

Anytime I have seen this kid play I have been impressed - though to be fair I've only probably seen him in 3 or 4 games but he did stand out as a real talent.

Agree, he looks a good footballer, but he’s not really an alternative to Martial is he?

Although I like Martial I think he is a tad overrated by the folk on SC, but one thing I’m constantly reminded of is how he can play as a CF in his own right.

Something that doesn’t apply to Pusilic, so we’d stil need another forward imo.

Depending on the formation, not sure why Eriksen can't move back. I don't see him as viable in a pivot, but he has been dropping deep to pick up the ball a lot last season - put him in a CM pair in front of a DM, and I don't think he would look any different than he does now.

Get the feeling Levy would prefer Pulisic to Martial anyway, considering the financial benefits. Signing the biggest name in US football, tapping into the American market before the new stadium opens and plays host to NFL games for the foreseeable future.

But with this popping up, and the increased chatter around Ndombele, I think we could be looking at a window of: Pulisic, Ndombele and Grealish.

I also think the fact that links to de Ligt have dried up, we might be looking to keep Toby.

I'd be pretty excited about that window - particularly if you include Lucas with a full pre-season.

Another benefit of Pulisic is, although he plays out wide with Dortmund, he plays as #10 with country. It may just be wishful thinking, but I feel he's got the ability to grow to be good enough to back-up Eriksen. He's still very young (doesn't turn 20 until September).

Why does it have to be £20m down the drain? If we get our scouting right then it shouldn’t be.

Son is best played as a WF imo, not a number 9. Besides, he will be off with Korea before Xmas o think and then there is the military service situation.

If we don’t sign Martial we need another forward.

I think Toby/De Ligt talk wont come back around again until the WC is finished, don’t consider it done

I think that'd be a successful window. Still a bit concerned about CB depth, I'd probably try to find another young'n to bring in.

I don't think Son will go to South Korea for the Asian Cup - I am guessing Spurs made a deal to release him for the Asian games in exchange for no call-up for the Asian Cup.

It's certainly an option we could use when trying to break more stubborn teams down.

With Eriksen behind an attacking 3 and Kane you'd imagine we'd have plenty of options.

You would lose some of his goal threat though.

Probably correct. The Asian Games is the one that matters as far as his military service, if I'm not mistaken. I don't believe the Asian Cup does.

I think you keep most of his goal threat, and maybe even enhance it - his best shots come from deep (other than the goal against Man United) -and I think he may find more room to get that shot off if he is coming from a little deeper. But, I expect that his role would not change - he would still operate in the are between the opposing defenders and midfielders.

Would also mean no Martial I would assume.

Could all be part of the plan, I don't think there is anyone in for Martial that would be willing to pay the money needed. Juve wont, Munich are out, Madrid I don't see it, maybe Chelsea but they have no manager. I just have a feeing that the business side of both chairman will see an agreement around Toby and Martial.

I'd be fine if that happened. I would not want to sell Toby without a quality replacement though, and since I don't see many links to other CBs, I don't think its impossible that we keep Toby.

This is where I stand on this as well. I think Martial may be the "we're willing to go to deadline day with this" player this year, but I think we're being brave and signing guys regardless. If Martial comes off it will be a huge bonus for the club, but if he doesn't we will have done enough good business otherwise so that it doesn't hurt or leave us short.
