Shit, it is starting to get interesting! What a signing he could be! Fingers are crossed.

I'm sure Levy is wanting to get this one done early so he can join the team on the United States tour. That would be huge for the club to grow further in the States and $$$$$ opportunities.
Almost everyone who is in for Pulisic - including Dortmund - are touring the US this summer. I am sure they all want the deal concluded soon (or in Dortmund's case, the decision to stay).

Dortmund also signed winger Marius Wolf who's just had a breakthrough year in the Bundesliga so they've got a replacement in already if he were to be off.

Agree with this but the first game is only 20 days away. I'd love it but that would be a quick turnaround for us at the best of times!

The type of deal that will give Levy a massive (3.5") boner. Not only would he be a fantastic addition but the mention of it will surely put the cat amongst the pidgeon re Martial and Grealish.

What would be the point of Grealish if we add Pulisic? I understand if Martial was the target as Martial can't also play #10 but Pulisic can. That could only mean Grealish being tasked for a different role I would imagine.

Forwards: Kane, Son, Lucas, Pulisic, Lamela
CM: Eriksen, Dele, Winks, Grealish
DM: Dier, Wanyama

Something like that?

That's a pretty attacking line up....(y)

Martial has always been my number 1 preferred target for us this summer but I'm a BIG fan of Pulisic and he'd be a helluva consolation prize if Martial can't happen.

The FT put some stats together yesterday about non penalty goals in the major leagues before 19 and half (Mbappé's current age). The fact that Pulisic is even in there is an indication of what a prodigious talent he is.

I would also think they would want to wrap this up quickly to maximize press coverage of Pulisic as he tours the states with Spurs during the ICC. The ICC gets some publicity, but if Pulisic is in the squad, it would get significantly more.

As Lamela is so combative and can pick a pass, Poch could have him rotate with Alli / Eriksen in his 3-man midfield?
Perhaps. I like Lamela but he doesn't produce enough, at least since he came back. Same with Dembele.

4 goals and 7 assists in his limited time this season. Not saying its great but I think we see the best Lamela we've seen yet this upcoming season if he's still here.

Let's hope so.

I would imagine if we sign Pulisic, it is to initially cover Son’s time away on national duties over the 18/19 season.

I guess this would also mean Martial is out of the picture, with Man U playing hard ball.

Potentially this summer would see Pulisic as rotation in attacking depth and Grealish as a CM sharing the void Dembele leaves with Dier. Whilst Dier spaces his time between DM and CB, when and if needed.

Hopefully that would mean Toby stays if Martial is a no go.

Alan smith and francis jeffers are also in there. A lot of international goals against some weak opposition too.

Not knocking the kid, obviously is a talent and has a lot of potential. Just wouldn't want to put too much pressure on him.

For me Pulisic makes more sense as an alternative to Grealish than as an alternative to Martial. I know he's played out wide for Dortmund, but IMO he's more of a playmaker than a traditional winger or inside forward. The fact that he's pacey and tricky enough to be able to slot in out wide is a nice bonus, but I really think his future is through the middle.

The whole rationale behind a player like Martial, Zaha, or Plea is that they'd give us a Kane backup who can also play out wide and can therefore establish the rhythm and match sharpness needed to be able to come in for Kane in case of injury. We've seen that out-and-out No. 9s, rarely getting on the pitch, aren't an effective means by which to give ourselves the needed squad depth at the striker position. Pulisic wouldn't fill that remit.

We've had some ITK that Villa are holding firm to their valuation of Grealish (reported to be £40m), and if it's true that Pulisic is available for ~£44m then we'd be getting a player who is better, younger, more experienced at the top level, and a million miles ahead in terms of commercial benefits for only a bit more of an outlay.

If we do wrap up this deal then I would fully expect us to still be in the market for a player in the Martial, Zaha, Plea mould. It'd be very interesting to see what impact it would have on our other targets.
