there's a bit about half way in where he runs from inside his own half to the edge of the box, looks up a couple of times and then plays a great pass across the box for his teammate who scores. These are things i'm not used to seeing at Spurs since Mr Bale left :(

I also like the confidence of his finish for Cameroon, the chest and volley. Looks a decent player!
Well if he looked up from the ball then he's absolutely nothing like our one Mr. Townsend.

I just hope he's as good as the last Clinton to grace the PL - Mr Morisson.

It's a bit of a different situation than Townsend, though. Andros is nearly 24, while N'jie was mostly an impact sub or bit part player up until 2015. This was his first real season and he started off rather slowly, but he did get goals and assists. What I mean by Townsend-esque games is ones where space is at a premium he struggled, lost the ball, and simply wasn't on the level of Fekir and Lacazette. Lyon fans are bloody ruthless, they labelled him brainless and out of control.

Then injuries happened and N'jie integrated himself into the side. He still has some "brainless" type games, as he's much more of a pace and space player than one to deploy against a parked bus. To be honest, he kind of is out of control. he's a big fan of the Gareth Bale "take a 20 yard touch and sprint by the defender" move but displays pretty quick reactions and dribbling skill. But as Lyon fans soon found out, the guy is a one-man counter attack. I don't even watch French football that much but I can remember 5-10 times where him/Lacazette made something out of nothing simply by having blazing speed, a direct attitude, and composure in front of goal. This is what sets him apart from anyone we have, including Townsend.

I'd compare him to Kane in Sherwood's last season, as he had a red hot finish to the season but it was his first year and they aren't sure if it's sustainable yet. So it could go either way - he has potential but he's still raw.

Thanks everyone for providing some updates. Seem he may be an alternative to Martial based on reports. As I say, last thread I started in here came to fruition and you lot have sold me on him if we can't get Martial

Doesn't seem as much a CF, more a LWF, but maybe one who'll adapt over time. Personally I think we need a Central player this window, so wouldn't mind Martial as competition for Kane, and Njie as LWF capable of also being the 3rd CF. I may be being a bit greedy there though...

When Lacazette was the same age as N'jie was last season, he scored 3 and assisted 9 in 2277 mins. That's 1 goal every 759 mins and 1 assist in every 253 mins.

The season before that was Lacazette's break out season and he scored 5 and assisted 4 in 1402 mins. That's 1 goal every 280 mins and 1 assist in every 350 mins.

Last season (2013/14), Lacazette scored 15 and assisted 5 in 2897 mins. That's 1 goal every 193 mins and 1 assist in every 580 mins.

N'jie scored 7 and assisted 8 in 1519 mins. That's 1 goal every 217 mins and 1 assist in every 190 mins.

Martial scored 9 and assisted and 4 in 1820 mins. That's 1 goal every 202 mins and 1 assist in every 455 mins. Martial is 1 year younger than Lacazette was in his break out season.

If he improves in the manner Lacazette did, this will probably be our last chance to get him (or Martial).

The surprise for me is that we haven't been linked with too many forwards, yet its the one position where we have to buy an alternative goalscorer to Kane, ideally someone who can play as a WF

I'm always skeptical about YouTube vids because it is so easy to cherry pick and make average players look like world beaters. I have to say I like the look of this kid though. He's obviously got pace but what impressed me is not the goals but the assists. He makes intelligent decisions and therefore has an end product. All the pace and skill in beating a man is worth little without being able to make a good decision once you have done so.

After years of watching Lennon and Townsend i'd quite like to see a winger who picks out an accurate pass rather than just lashing the ball into row Z or against the legs of the defenders. For that reason I prefer this kid to Martial. I think Harry Kane would too.

Just watched that YouTube clip, having never seen him before, and gotta say, I'm not very impressed.

Not sure what you guys are seeing.

He's got a lot of pace but not a lot else for me. Yes, he's an improvement on Townsend but that's not hard.

I just watched his touches against bordeaux clip. Very underwhelmed in all honesty. Only young, so could definitely improve but wasn't massively impressed.
Would much prefer martial, who seems a more cultured footballer.

I don't necessarily see them as the same option. In the video Njie is typically playing wide. We need someone to cover/compete with Kane as the CF. If we get Njie, it would I assume be as LWF to pressure Chadli. We'd still need a CF.
